All Iowa Football Team---Post Bowl Edition

So he didn't throw a great pass the first play in that highlight while on the run? Lol oh my God. And I love how hitting open receivers in stride is nothing special but your own QB can't even do it

The first pass was a good throw, but it never should have been thrown. You can’t really count on the defensive bank stopping coverage once the ball is in the air. Although he is playing in the Big XII, so maybe that is a common occurrence in that league.

Many of the wide open receivers he didn’t hit in stride. I can think of one in particular where Butler would have had an easy TD but Purdy underthrew him by ten yards, which allowed the defender to catch up to him.

Not sure how you could take anything away from that game other than (1) Purdy looks athletic and elusive enough to avoid sacks and pose a scrambling threat, and (2) Oklahoma State has quite possibly one of the worst P5 pass defenses in recent memory.

@CyTwins So now you think Herbstreit is credible? Nice to know that you think Historic Kinnick Stadium is one of the five best atmospheres/environments in all of college football.

I don’t hate any of them. Purdy had a tremendous statistical performance and did an awesome job of completing passes to wide open receivers.

The fact you don't think the first play in that highlight video wasn't awesome is mind blowing. To escape the pressure and make that throw knowing Butler could make that play on the run was SCTOP10 worthy

I already told you it was a good throw, but Butler was blanketed on the play until the DB inexplicably decided to stop trying to cover him. It was a risky throw that got bailed out by OSU’s inability to play defense.

You realize Butler is the king of baiting defenders into thinking the ball isn't coming his way right? Like that's what makes him so good

If you want to praise Purdy for making an incredibly risky throw while in FG range, you can. I think it was a poor decision to throw that pass and risk coming away with zero points. Just because it worked out doesn’t mean it was the right decision.

How was it risky? The defender had no clue the ball was even coming

Should he have pulled a Staley and just fumbled the ball?
