MLB: ***Official 2018 Chicago Cubs Season Thread***

FO needs to go out and find an every day outfielder who can hit and every day second baseman who can hit. I don’t care about glove when we got Javy out there

Bottom line - this offense, as is, is not good enough to do much in the postseason. Contreras is broke, Bryant is broke, we don’t have an OF who can consistently hit.

We are ******

Also I need to go back and find my posts saying Cubs need to go for Yelich and let go of Almora and Happ. Certainly glad we kept those good for nothing hitters

1.Sign Darvish and trade for Yelich.

2. Assuming Harper comes to the Cubs, the worst OBP from 2017 out of Contreras, Rizzo, Castro, Baez, Bryant, Heyward, Schwarber, Yelich, and Harper is Heyward's at .312. Our offense would be in consideration for the best offense in history, in my opinion, considering 3 of those guys get on base 4 out of 10 times, and all but 1 of those 10 have the ability to go yard 20+ times a season.

Could’ve been building for a hell of a 2019. Instead we sat on our hands and watched.

Yelich would’ve been a hell of a leadoff for Harper/Bryant/Rizzo to feed off of.

Guess we will get another year of Rizzo/Schwarber/Bryant/Zobrist leading off because why the hell not

Lot of complaining about what's still going to be a 94 or 95 win team that had it's best overall position player miss two months and then play hurt and biggest free agent pick up miss basically the entire season.

This has been Joe's best season with the Cubs.
LOL yeah. It's natural for a fan base to predict the worst and be relieved when the best happens. I'm still confident we hang on, and still willing to take bets we win the Division and home field advantage in the NL. Hopefully we can get these next two and St Louis can salvage one tonight and we get the lead back up to 2 before the weekend.

Almora's defense is worth keeping. Having a center fielder that good defensively is a bonus. His hitting might still improve slowly.

How quickly we forget 100+ years of futility and expect that 90+ wins is a colossal failure.
