Ending Iowa's Dominance

That's really naive on a couple of fronts. We absolutely have to start holding our own in state if we want to be on equal or better footing than Iowa. And remember in addition to being recruits they are also fans.
No naivete involved, TROLL. We're packing the stands with more people than ever. Our fanbase is strong. More Iowa students overall have chosen ISU over the U of I for many years now. We also have the highest enrollment of all state schools, for what that is worth.

What we need to do is create and sustain an upward trend in overall recruiting and program development. Of course, it would be nice if we had the built in advantages that the TOE has (like having the local media regularly fellate their coaches, etc.), but we don't need those to be successful. Some of that will even out if we begin to have sustained success overall. And we can have that success whether we win more recruiting battles from the shallow State of Iowa recruiting pool or not. Just win, Baby!

Way more Iowa kids are choosing to attend Iowa State University over the U of I. That's more important IMO. As the years go on, more and more people will grow up to be Cyclone fans.

Now, with that being said, we'll need to start winning more in order to keep them.

I have a question for you...If you were an Iowa High School Football player with no ties to ISU, where would you rather play football? ChokeEyeVille or ISU......Well since Iowa er the chokeeyes have won 45 games to our 22, its easy to see why a lot of high schoolers choose the ChokeEyes....who in their right mind would want to lose to the Chokes every year for a four year career.....

Out of ALL the position groups I said, that is all you could come up with? I think I made my point. I don't even think either of them are better than the DEs we have.

That Nelson kid is a sure fire NFL draft pick of he stays healthy, I'm pretty sure we could find somewhere to play for us. Don't they have a pretty good track record of getting good safety play from Iowa kids too, including several walk ons? Weren't all 3 of their LBers from Iowa last year? They all went to an NFL camp so it's probably safe to say they could have played in the B12. I guess I'm not entirely sure as I don't know a ton about their roster breakdown. Also I don't think anyone is disputing there arent enough D1 kids in Iowa to fill a whole roster so I'm not sure what your overall point is or how it's relevant.

LOL. You know you've lost the argument when you have to resort to personal attacks. Besides how can I be your son when I am your womans Daddy?

Am I doing it right?

No. And that was to address your initial personal attack of calling me naive. But that's fine. Continue on in your errors in thinking, clearly you aren't worth the time.

I'm going to use a horrible generalization, but one that seems to be pretty accurate. Midwest kids seem to have a greater work ethic than most. Rose is a prime example being from Wisconsin of a kid that Iowa usually gets from the state of Iowa. Works really hard, hard nosed, smart and is always in the right place, scrappy, etc, etc, etc. You know all the cliches. But it is true quite a bit of the time.

You need kids like that on your team.

Nebraska lost at home to Colorado, NW lost badly at home to Duke, Purdue lost at home to Eastern Michigan, Iowa beat ISU but it wasnt a good game, and Iowa hasn't looked good for about 5 out of 8 quarters, Illinois and Minny play no one, and Wisconsin is good.

The B1G West is bad.

Nebraska lost to Colorado at home. The 2018 version of the Buffs is a tough matchup for most teams. They’ll win 9 games this year and contend for the PAC 12 title.

Minnesota is 2-0 and beat Fresno State last night. Fresno hung 79 on Idaho last week. They won 10 games including a bowl win over Houston (who beat OU) last season. Fresno isn’t a “no one” by any stretch of the imagination.

Illinois played a UNI type FCS team. Actually that team beat UNI last year but I think the Illini may be a 4-5 win team this year. We’ll see

The first thing to do to break Iowa’s dominance is assume that that have “dominance”. At a four game win streak, closely decided games, I don’t.

0-15.

But I guess if you didn’t live through the whole thing as an adult, I can see where you might be confused.

I didnt call you naive. I called your argument naive, which it clearly is.

I don't think anyone is arguing we shouldn't look out of state in recruiting. But its naive to think we are going to supplant Iowa at the top of the football foodchain without first holding our own in (at the very minimum) the recruitment of in state talent.
