Ferentz's Emphasis on the ISU Game

so your vertical jump is better then the NBA average? and you only went DIII? I've worked with a guy who played DIII, and another who's still playing JUCO basketball and know how much of a joke the Strength and conditioning programs are. not really above some of the metro/suburban school's programs (especially when it comes to basketball).

Only brought it up because it was the 1st page that the forum loaded back into, when I clicked on this thread again. but we all ready know how much of a big talker you are.

Actually, my school’s strength and conditioning program was pretty good- had a few individuals that went on to join the Iowa Football S&C staff. If you want to convince yourself that I am lying to make yourself feel better about your own athletic shortcomings, go right on ahead.

what school was that Kirkwood right? Im not the one trying to brag about his made up ability, just like saying Fants what did you say 42" vertical? and then tried backing it up saying your own was above NBA average.

Now where did you find that?

I’m not bragging about it; you’re the one who brought it up. You are also the one acting like a snowflake because someone on the Internet is (apparently) a better athlete than you.

Also, Fant does in fact have a 42” vertical. That is a fact, unless you believe Fant, the Iowa coaching staff, and the Iowa media are a bunch of liars.

LOL your players literally called it the Super Bowl... Twice

About the only surprising remark here Tuesday was Cyclones starting offensive guard Josh Knipfel of Hampton twice calling the game “the Super Bowl of the state.”

If it's not the biggest football game in the state, why are you on CF talking about it? And why are you reading about what ISU players say?

you're the one who brought up your "athleticism" as well as other "claims" originally.
if Fant really does have that amazing vertical, that's a pretty easily repeatable stat, you think there would be video of it somewhere. they videoed Scherffs hang cleans a few times I know. see if they put it to use at all this season. Might need it to even keep up with ISU this weekend.

He knows how KF operates. This isn't that hard. He spent the last 5 years in KF's system.

Curious what you think of these guys and their opinions on the game since they were much better than Kluver

“Coach (Kirk) Ferentz sits us down and said, ‘This is Iowa State, and they don’t like us,’” Iowa senior linebacker Quinton Alston said. “This is our rivalry game — the Cy-Hawk Game — and it’s a big game for the city and the state. So there’s not much to talk about.”

Iowa has played five Big Ten schools at least 74 times, yet its in-state series against Iowa State has surpassed the others in trash talking and intensity, Alston said.

“There’s no other rivalry quite like an in-state rivalry,” said Alston, a native of Sicklerville, N.J.

“I just hate Iowa State,” Iowa linebacker Fred Barr said. “I hate those guys. I can’t stand them.

“They’ve been so cocky the last couple of years just because they’ve beaten us a few times. I mean if I even see red, it makes me sick.

Ferentz hardly displays a public “rah-rah” persona before any game. His levelheaded approach upsets some Iowa fans, who accused him after losses of not placing enough importance on the series.

But Ferentz’s public comments and actions belie that perception. The program has placed Iowa State posters on doors in its football facility. Several years when Iowa reclaims the Cy-Hawk Trophy, the players sprint across the field to celebrate.

“It’s not the coach that I hate or the players, it’s Iowa State,” offensive lineman Julian Vandervelde said in 2007. “It’s the entity that they are. It’s the whole rivalry. I was raised an Iowa kid, and no matter what happens, I’m probably always going to hate Iowa State no matter who they’re playing and who their coach is.”

When people think rivalries, the first that comes up is Iowa State,” Iowa cornerback Shaun Prater said in 2011.

Lol so how would he know how this team is preparing?

48 hours to kick. All that matters now.

Not sure what you’re getting at? It’s literally an in-state rivalry. That doesn’t change the fact that KF and staff prepare for this game any different than they do for any other game.

I would assume they prepare different for their rivalry game than just another game. I mean winning it is a highlight of their season

CMC is the one that said he would rather beat Iowa than compete for a conference championship, and he put an Iowa countdown clock in the football facilities during the middle of the summer. I don’t think there is any question that the Iowa game is CMC’s Super Bowl.

It’s pretty sad that this is what our society has become today- anytime someone is presented with facts they don’t like, they just claim it’s not true.

Like several of us with the fact that that clock doesn’t exist but you choose to ignore that. What, are we supposed to take a picture of the wall where it isn’t? You will say it doesn’t prove anything and we photoshopped it. It isn’t there
