Biggest disadvantage in the CyHawk Series since 1980

You don't think it's laughable to not start your most talented player?

Not when there is another really good player he is stuck behind. Was it laughable not to start Josh Jackson his sophomore year? No, because he had two good players in front of him. It happens. Epenesa will still play a ton of snaps and get his chance to start next season when’s Hesse graduates.

Well that certainly is an advantage to Stanley this year when comparing stats between him and Kempt. He has better pass catchers and a better OL blocking for him, he should have MUCH better numbers than old noodle arms

You thought and said Jackson was the most talented player on the roster when he was a sophomore? Interesting

Wait, so do stats matter or not? I’ve been told that stats don’t matter for defensive linemen because Iowa and Iowa State run different defensive schemes. Wouldn’t the same hold true at QB, or is that somehow different? You’ve also claimed that Montgomery was better than Wadley, even though Wadley had better stats. I guess I am just confused on when stats matter and when they don’t, because you are all over the place.

Stats matter and Montgomery was the best RB in the country according to PFF so not sure what you're talking about

Curious if any of you three disagree with this or are you actually going to not troll and be objective @RedBayou @iahawks @benjimill

If you want to break it down like that...

ISU's backfield > Iowa ... Running backs are flat out better than Iowa's and I think there's some potential for Iowa's.
ISU's pass catchers > Iowa ... No debate here based on current body of work.
Iowa's OL > ISU ... No debate here based on talent and body of work.
ISU's Front 7 > Iowa ... Your Dline is good and Spears/Harvey are dudes. Can't debate that at this point.
ISU's secondary = Iowa ... Your secondary gave up over 7 yards per attempt last year and lost its leader.
Iowa's special teams > ISU

Can't disagree with any of that. Really surprised benji is saying your pass catchers are better than ours

If stats matter then why do you think Montgomery was the best? He didn’t have anywhere close to the best stats and in fact had worse stats than Wadley. If only stats matter, which your analysis of Kempt:Stanley seems to imply, then Wadley was better than Montgomery because he had better stats.

Pull your head out of the sand and at least look at who and what we have. Your statement makes me think you started that other account as a back up troll account its so bad.

Pretty sure it's HawkeyeMash or whatever the name was. Saw him quantify number of tackles with good dline play like Mash used to quantify effective basketball to points per minutes so some no-name Iowa player playing on an NIT team was somehow better.

Who knows what will happen Saturday but we all know if ISU's Dline has a good day, the excuses will be flying.

Benji is 100% Mashup, it's not even a question and he does a terrible job hiding it

We were at a huge disadvantage with Oklahoma last year too. Look how that turned out...

I don't think we were. The team new early in the week Kempt was the guy and it didn't come out until Friday IIRC. If anything we had a little advantage since they would have been prepping for Park all week

It was Friday that they announced Park was on medical leave, but I don't think we new about Kempt starting until the day of the game (assuming Zeb would have been the guy). Point being, Oklahoma had no way to prepare for Kempt cause they just didn't know what kind of QB he would be. Couldn't the same apply to Iowa having no way to prepare for ISU because they just don't know what kind of team we have this year?

It's more of a disadvantage not having game reps for us than it is for Iowa to not have film on us. We recruited Park and knew there was some concerns there, the weather thing was completely out of our control

Also I'm pretty sure that's when the 3 man front and spy/robber came about as an identity on defense for ISU.
