Biggest disadvantage in the CyHawk Series since 1980

ISU's defense wasn't very good early on until Heacock changed things up

Ok. Let’s follow that to its conclusion. In regulation, Iowa gave up 38 points to the Clones. Iowa gave that up to Wisconsin. Other than that, the most points scored against Iowa was 24. Do you think it’s at all possible that Iowa’s defense got significantly better as the year went on? Maybe, just maybe?

Now I know you’re going to say Iowa played some god awful offenses, but, was your offense better than Penn State with Barkley? Was it better than Wisconsin with Jonathan Taylor? Was it better than Ohio State with an offense full of 4 and 5 star recruits? A OSU offense that beat USC in the Cotton Bowl?

The narrative seems to be that ISU was the only team that improved as the season went on. The Iowa offense had their ups and downs, but the defense was consistently pretty good.

My concern is weather.. give me bright, sunny, dry day and I’ll take Isu offense weapons all day..

Wet, windy, rainy field plays right into Iowa ball control offense.

It’s the same every year.. they run the ball and 90% of passing plays are shorter routes to TE, FB or RB..

Isu D is just going to have to time it’s blitzes and condense the field from outside in..

Montgomery was the best RB you faced last year according to PFF...

Are we walking into this game with the biggest disadvantage ever in the series? It's common knowledge teams improve the most from week one to week two. I can't think of any other time where either team had the deck stacked against them like this. Damn lightning

Just curious how many players you have on the injury list after your five minute game. Ivory Kelly Martin, Brady Ross, TJ Hockenson, and Kristian Welch were all dinged up to one extent or another. Is that part of Iowa’s advantage in this game?

What’s to disagree with @breck53? The rushing numbers looked much better for Iowa due to sacks. The sacks happened because of a bad, indecisive NIU QB. Won’t be an issue for us. We are going to roll up 500+ yards on that trash defense.
Can’t fix stupid-you wait a long period of time to post, and this is it? Try to act somewhat intelligent Beavis

You might want to back off a bit. These kinds of firm predictions tend to look really bad post-game.

The Oline is going to have their hands full and that's going to dictate what the offense does.

Honestly, I feel like, if this had happened to Iowa, in the past we'd be spending the week thinking we had some huge advantage from it, only to get our asses handed to us because we came in not as sharp or focused as we could have been.

That's why you play the games.

I'm nervous enough about anyone thinking ISU's offense is going to be automatic or the defense is going to shut things down. Youth is still youth in week 2 game or no game.

Hmmm. Yeah. No. He was really good. He will be really good Saturday. Simply amazing. There’s no chance he was as good last year as Saquan Barkley. Just no.

Barkley and him were on a different level that's for sure. He's better than Taylor. Could you imagine Montgomery running behind that line in the Big Ten West? My God that would be insane

If Hockenson is out that should help with your running game

He said his suspended players did community service Friday and Saturday. What an arrogant dbag.
Lol.. read it in context. What was he supposed to say, “I’m not answering that because I don’t want to hurt Clone fans’ feelings”?

Q. The four guys that were suspended, you mentioned you might have them doing something different this week. What was kind of the -- what did you have them doing instead of playing in the game?
KIRK FERENTZ: This past week? They did community service work. It's a pretty standard rule we have. They got four hours in on Friday and eight more on Saturday and missed the game. But they're in mind and spirit, and they came back Sunday and we've welcomed them back, and they're all doing a good job. Really happy with the way they've handled it. Obviously wish they hadn't been in that situation, but I think they've handled it the way we would hope, and what's most important now is they continue to do that, and I expect that from all four guys. I think they've got a great attitude.
