Biggest disadvantage in the CyHawk Series since 1980

My point still stands.

No it doesn't. I could name every scholarship football and basketball player at Iowa State just by looking at them. I could do that for Iowa basketball because of comedic purposes but I wouldn't even know half of Iowa's football players. Hell I could tell you where every scholarship player from ISU came from too

ROTFL

This is too much. I'm out until after the game.

Why is our team missing out on a whole game worth of game reps a big deal to me? Because I'm a big ISU fan

No, pertaining to the Cy Hawk game.

Imo at least ISU gets a game vs. a decent team before early conference game the following week.

If ISU doesn't win this week it won't be just because of the cancellation. If ISU had their game, Iowa's Dline vs. ISU's Oline would still be a concern.

Agreed

Honestly, I feel like, if this had happened to Iowa, in the past we'd be spending the week thinking we had some huge advantage from it, only to get our asses handed to us because we came in not as sharp or focused as we could have been.

That's why you play the games.

Those are some pretty monster "ifs"

How about you answer this question: Do you think CMC would have rather played week 1 and had the possibility to lose the game or lose players or have the game cancelled and not get game reps for his players? I know the answer and that's why it's a disadvantage to not play week 1

I think it is impossible to try to project outcomes, which is why I struggle with your entire point. Sure, Campbell would take a game over no game if you could guarantee a win and healthy key players. But there's no way you can do that.

You are trying to state something as an undeinable, empirical fact when it isn't. It's that simple. We benefit from no one being injured. We benefit from no one having been dinged up. We benefit from putting nothing on tape. We do not benefit from missing out on reps-- on that I do agree, although refuse to treat it as the end-all-be-all.

But to sit there and say the sum of those things is us being at some astronomical disadvantage, the likes of which we have not see in the past 38 years is an absurd statement. It's just silly and with your posting history, it's so blatantly obvious that you are preparing an argument for yourself in the event we lose.

Campbell would choose playing week 1 no matter what the consequences are than not playing week 1. You and I both know that

Sure, but you act like there are no consequences we would have to live with. That's my entire point.

If our own head coach would rather have played a game already NO MATTER THE CONSEQUENCES and we don't play a game that's a disadvantage. You're arguing just to argue at this point

Pointing out a POSSIBLE disadvantage is one thing but you are using it as troll bait and it's pretty remarkable how few have even nibbled...
Not too remarkable. Most of his comments are dictated from a flow chart that has no begining or end, a big circle. More and more are just passing over his comments with out reading.

Kurt ferents presser was interesting. He even is crying about our suspended players. What a puss.

Are we walking into this game with the biggest disadvantage ever in the series? It's common knowledge teams improve the most from week one to week two. I can't think of any other time where either team had the deck stacked against them like this. Damn lightning
In the Rhoads era, yes, it would be a disadvantage. Especially with how bad ISU is at the beginning of seasons traditionally... But there is such a different feel to ISU football with Campbell at the helm. He and the other coaches are great at getting the players prepared, as well as player development. These are things we have been lacking for such a long time. The players respond so well to Campbell and the rest of the staff. I think the days of seeing an ISU team go out and look like complete garbage are over.

Just look at last year. We lost ONE game by double digits and that was only a 10 point loss. The next step is winning the close games. We win the one possession games last year and we're playing in the conference title game and if Texas was the only loss and then we won the conference title, we would have made the college football playoffs. Crazy, huh?

The point is... NEVER underestimate this coaching staff.

Right, as if ToE (or really any other program) wouldn't do the exact same thing given the same circumstances.

Utter bulls***.

Only because of sacks. They would gain 7 or 8 yards most times they ran. Why they ever tried to throw is beyond me.
What’s to disagree with @breck53? The rushing numbers looked much better for Iowa due to sacks. The sacks happened because of a bad, indecisive NIU QB. Won’t be an issue for us. We are going to roll up 500+ yards on that trash defense.
