Free Solo: Alex Honnold

This looks like it could be a pretty good watch:

Oh man, I'm going to need to see this in a theater. If it's even half as good as Meru it'll be worth it. I can't even try to climb a small boulder without getting scared.

Agreed with everything above. Honnold is awesome and no way in hell I'd be able to do what he does. I can barely do 1/10th of what he does when I have all my safeties on! I'm pumped to see it!

This is playing at the Varsity and Jordan Creek this week. Went to see it tonight. It's incredible and worth seeing on the big screen.

There isn't a horror movie I can't watch but I don't know if I could watch this. Just the trailer made my hands all tingly and my body tense. What a crazy sob. I respect him but he's bat **** crazy.

I'm not all that afraid of heights, but that is going to be anxiety inducing. I'm not sure that I ever could (or would) have done that if there were solid safety grip rungs drilled into the side of that thing. At some point I'd probably just panic and stay there until I was rescued or fell.

We’re looking at seeing this movie tonight. Which theater is better? We’ve never been to the varsity.

Sorry I didn't see your post yesterday, so this is probably too late. The Varsity is an old independent theater. Only one screen and I don't think it's been updated in decades, but it's in good shape. They play a lot of stuff that isn't in wide release. Tickets and concessions are cheaper at the Varsity. The chairs aren't terribly comfortable and the picture quality is a little less than what you get at a newer theater. So if you want better picture and sound, nicer seating, and the ability to reserve your seat go to Jordan Creek. If you want to save some money and have a bit of a nostalgia experience go to the Varsity.

It’s all good. We ended up at Jordan Creek.

The movie was fantastic though. I’m glad we decided to see it on the big screen.

Glad you liked it. Even though you know the outcome the climb is extremely intense. The scene where he tackles the boulder problem is about as tense as Ive ever felt in a movie. I feel it is one of those movies that is greatly enhanced by viewing it on the big screen due to the amazing cinematography.
