Free Solo: Alex Honnold

Murph & Andy's movie "critic" gives this an A and he is usually a fairly tough grader. I have to get to the Theater to see this:

I get a little woozy looking at the poster. Not sure I could watch the whole movie

They are showing it on ESPN now. He just started the climb if you want to watch/re-watch it.

This is a great watch.

I am a pretty adventurous guy, moved to Colorado to do more outdoors, 'on the edge stuff'.

When I watched what this guy does I couldn't sleep for a week. Infinitely more courage than I could ever hope to have.

His brain is literally not wired the same as your average Joe

If you liked Free Solo, definitely watch Meru. I enjoyed it more. You don’t get the camera angles, but the feat is maybe more impressive for that reason. Plus, those guys are a bit more normal than Honnold.

Every time you guys bump this thread I get worried that he died or something.

We visited some friends in CO and watched this with them a while back. I get vertigo when looking over edges and had a ton of "pucker" moments watching it, but holy crap it was amazing.

I've played on some climbing walls for bouldering etc before i was fat, and it's ridiculous that at like 1000ft off the ground the size of some of his toe holds or "crimps" are like just the tip of a finger or two... As many have mentioned, he's definitely not wired like the rest of us.

One of my friends in LA has actually bouldered with him at a climbing gym out there. Completely random occurrence, but he was apparently super nice and normal in person - he even spotted my friend and chatted for 45 minutes after they were done climbing. Always nice to hear about such humility from "famous" people.

I saw the movie in small theater in IC. A full house, about 20.

It got very quiet when the climb began. I started to hold my chair at certain moments.

When leaving, an older woman told her friend that she quit watching and stared at the floor

A mind blowing movie.

Just put me on the list of people who think you should watch this. Watching someone with 100% devotion to something so dangerous is fascinating.

There are a lot of people who use the phrase “worth dying for”, this might be the only time I’ve believed it.
