FWIW:
Here are Phil Steele's national unit rankings for Iowa and Iowa state. I think he ranks the top 50.

DL: 20
LB: Unranked
DB: 26
ST: 18

Iowa State

Receivers unranked
OL: unranked

From what I have seen on national pundit's take on ISU, I think we are severely underrated. Just my opinion, but most people have no idea about us in the first place, let alone the deep analytics of our roster. I still think Iowa is an even match for us, and I think we will win in Kinnick.

Just to be clear, Steele bases his position rankings on a mixture of returning starts and returning production, how good individuals are on the two deep including their position rankings he gave them out of HS. So for example he thinks Lima and Bailey are really good but because others don't rate highly in the way he rates, the group as a whole isn't extremely high.

So if you look at Iowa's dline v. ISU's, Iowa's is going to be higher because they have more returning starts and more returning production.

Wow I thought Fant was supposed to be good and your OL was too?

As was my argument with Lima and the ISU DL, one great player does not give you good or great depth on that unit. You obviously cant comprehend that.

Kirk said the OL has a chance to be good, Steele obviously disagrees.

He must think Fant, Easley, etc just plain out suck then

So you trust Steeles opinion on the DL but not the OL or receivers?

Im worried about our WR's. Just like Fant alone doesnt elevate that group to a higher rank, Lima and Bailey alone doesnt give the ISU DL quality depth.
