Is Fran building a regional powerhouse or just calling Iowa fans idiots and morons?

I just answered your question, no need to continuously repeat it.

No you didn't that's why I'm asking for you to clarify it. I'll ask again:

So your answer on why you are excited about ISU getting Shayok is because he wasn't guaranteed a major role as a senior at UVA? Is that correct or not?

I just answered it a few posts ago. He wasn’t even guaranteed a major role on UVA as a senior. But now he’s going to be one of the best players at ISU?

Either an incredibly optimistic set of expectations for him or doesn’t speak well for the talent level at ISU. I will let you tell me which one it is.
Where did you hear this?

LOL, Virginia's second leading scorer wasn't guaranteed a major role

Where did you hear this?

A UVA fan site writer said it after he left. Read to me like they were trying to spin it as not a big deal which was weird considering Shayok single handedly won them a game in the tourney as a junior but their loss is our gain

This argument is flawed on so many levels.
Marial transferred to ISU to play in a system that could feature his strengths and prove he can score to allow him to improve his professional stock. He may or may not have started at Virginia, a team ranked #1 in the nation for a majority of the year with a number of other potential professionals competing for time. I'm not sure how that should be a knock on Shayok?

The opinions that Marial will be an impact transfer is from multiple National media reports and the comments from ISU coaches on his play everyday in practice. Marial is a known player and their in their paid opinion he'll be very good playing at ISU.

You're talking to him like he's for real.

Sounds like typical spin/damage control whenever a player transfers away from ANY program.

Typical yeahbuddy confirmation bias

YeahBuddy really needs to stop weighing in on a subject (i.e. talent level) he would have NO IDEA about. Fran keeps giving WALK-ONS (i.e. those with no P6 offers) double digit minutes. Our coaching staff has better evaluative skills in identifying, obtaining, and developing talent. Baer, a supposed top175 player and then a B1G 6th man of the year, certainly took a huge step forward this past year - didn't he?! The team also did the exact same thing as Baer this past year. If Kriener and Cordell are major cogs on your team, well, you are going to go 4-14 in conference play.

Connor is the top 175 player and Baer was 6th man of the year.

Try and keep up.

Explains why ISU beat out Liberty for his services.

You placed the 6th man and top175 statement together in a previous post - so I assumed both applied to Baer. That said, Connor walked on to allow more schollies for the hoks - not because he is the typical walk-on type. Also, to pump up Baer as 6th man is eerily similar to what Hok fans did with Basabe. All-Frosh team his 1st year and then regressed from that point forward. Baer was a bust this past year for you guys - seems par for the course under Fran.

So glad we did! I guess we'll see how he does this year. If he is a major contributor for the Cyclones & even garners conference awards you still gonna make fun of this addition to our roster?
My guess is you will, because you sound a LOT like the majority of hok fans in my area. There were many hokfans making fun of Royce White (& Allen, Babb, et al) as thugs - even AFTER we made it to the NCAAs that year and crushed defending champion UCONN in the first round. Fran is opposed to transfers and anything that threatens his golden children's playing time. The Hok fan base are also opposed to any approach that isn't identical to the Fran or Freerentz way because it threatens them possibly becoming irrelevant nationally (which the Basketball team has basically been the past two seasons).

I’ve never called any ISU player a thug. Try and separate myself, who is questioning his basketball ability, and the “hok fans in your area” who seem to be a bunch of racists.

Shayok wanted to go to ISU from the get go thus visited 2nd and committed and didn't draw out the recruitment process though he is on record a number of schools reached out to him.
Liberty was a token visit due to a former coach connection.
And that should end that "argument" as reason not to believe Shayok should be very good next year.

You have every right to question Shayok's ability, but I wonder if you would come back on here and admit you were wrong if Shayok is a main contributor for ISU and garners all conference awards (player of the week, end-of-season all-conf team)? 'Cuz many of the members of your fan base still found reason to make fun of the transfers we got - even when many of them excelled. I am fine with their assessments of Brase, Beverly, & Holden. However, Talley (once healthy) was playing at a high level (double digit scoring), and even Bowie started playing effectively by the end of the year (the previous year). So, keep an eye on Jacobson, Talley and Shayok & see how they perform - then let's see if Iowa's right-way (under Fran's management & recruiting) is the best way to operate a program.

I’ve admitted when I was wrong on this site many times.
