Is Fran building a regional powerhouse or just calling Iowa fans idiots and morons?

So....no link? Just your common sense? LOL!!!!

Nope, no link.

By his senior season, Fredrick was 6-4, able to look his uncle Joe square in the eye. He was no longer just a shooting guard, also being asked to play the point for a veteran Covington Catholic team with high aspirations. His recruiting had taken off, too, with local schools Xavier and Cincinnati both interested. Butler, Penn State and eventually Indiana also came calling.

Mark's best work at trying to polish a turd of a recruiting profile.

The walk on status was only supposed to be for a year until a ride opened up. That changed when Williams left Iowa.
My bad. I forgot about the modus operandi for the Hok Basketball program under Fran. Becoming a walk-on guarantees you minutes in MadFran's rotation and then eventually a scholly. Since McD left ISU, the walk-on status at ISU doesn't guarantee you anything for the future. The only way a walk-on is getting a scholly at ISU is if he is just as good as the scholarship players (and this is highly unlikely to be the case with the types of players we have been getting).

Most walk ons don’t earn conference 6th man of the year awards or aren’t top 175 recruits. Those are the only walk ons that I remember getting a scholly under Fran.

Edit- Stokes or Denning may have been put on scholly their last year in the program when all the rides weren’t used, not 100% sure on that.

Yes denning got a scholarship his senior year for sure. I remember laughing about it.

Why are you happy ISU got a great transfer in Shayok when they still had an open scholarship all last season even with him on the roster?

He hasn’t even played a game yet for ISU...little early to call him great, isn’t it?
