Many Hawkeye fans call Kinnick Stadium historic, but I don't understand why. Is that just because it is old? Is the stadium a state historical site?

IMO, it is because it is old. But I always ask, when did it become historic?

I don't have a problem with them saying historic Kinnick. What bothers me... is the emphasis, and a strong emphasis, is put on historic. Why?

Aren’t things an antique at 75 years old? I would say at that age.

I and follow up asking, when was it 75 years old. Usually get a blank stare, either due to lack of math skills, or not knowing (basic) info on a historical site.

It really is a nice parlor trick.

Hawk Fan: HISTORIC Kinnick Stadium.
Keep: When did it become historic (no emphasis)?
HF: Well, when it was 75 years old.
K: When did it become 75 years old?
HF: .............
