OT - Cutting Cable

I wonder if anyone has ever been 'prosecuted' for streaming something like what is available on Kodi/Terrarium. You'd think those hosting it would be higher priorities for the authorities, yet they're able to stay 'online' for years. Same with people who download torrents & actually own a copy of the movie/show. Or even those torrent people who burn/sell stuff (if there are still people who possess hard copies of anything anymore..)

Yes, I often wonder too. I did notice that some of the addons for Kodi tend to get less feeds after a while and don't work as well, so I have to go out and look for a new one, so maybe they are getting shut down somehow. I did find something to convert youtube clips to something saveable so I could get a copy of the Liberty Bowl.

What device are you using? I have a FireTV and Vue is the only app the buffers. HBO Go, Netflix, Amazon Prime all work great.
Update: I cleared the cache on the Vue app and then restarted my Firetv. Huge improvement. Restarting the FireTv was key as I'd tried clearing cache before.

Got an e-mail from DirecTV Now that they are starting to release DVR. According to the e-mail, it’s rolling out today on Apple devices, select Chromecast devices and supported web browsers. Then, over the next few weeks, we’ll be introducing it on Android, Fire TV and Roku.

Also, it looks like they will be allowing a third simultaneous stream per account for an additional $5 a month.

Just came here to post this. Great news since I picked DTVnow after cutting the cord.

Where'd you find the option to clear cache??? I've done it before which helped tremendously but I started hitting buffering Sunday night so looked to try it again... can't fricken find the clear cache option!

Is anyone else have issues with PSVue? I'm using a second gen firestick and was cruising up until a couple months ago. Now Vue is buffering a ton and my internet seems to be testing fine. I was just curious if others have having problems.

I cleared the caches of all of my apps a few weeks ago, and it helped a ton.

No issues here. Was having some issues with Netflix on the firestick, actually. It was abruptly stopping and I had to restart. Annoying.

Do any of you have modem recommendations for Mediacom 100mb internet service in your home? Ideally this modem would be able to go well beyond 100mb in the future as internet speeds get faster and faster

PSVue going up another $5, will now be up to $50 a month. Was a great deal at $35 when we signed up, but it's getting to the point where we aren't getting our money's worth. We use it mostly for access to the apps on our tv.
DirecTV now is the same price for the same packages. Any better options out there? Is Hulu good? Youtube tv?
Tia.

Anyone else have DirecTVNow and having issues with channel 8 signal going out? We generally love the service and use an antenna for local channels on all but one TV-on one particular TV an antenna is not feasible.

Thanks for any advice

If you need another device I believe directv now's "buy 3 months get an apple 4k tv" deal is still active: so you could try it out for 3 months plus get the apple tv for $105

I think at this point they're all decent - it's just which ones have the channels you need (and apps: directv now doesn't have an android tv app for example)

I get DirecTVNow just fine on my android just through the direct tv app.

We've had YouTube.TV since it came to Des Moines. Love it! Just beware there are a couple changes missing (HGTV for one). Also, you can share with 6 accounts/3 streams at once so we share with my sister.

I'm starting to consider this, as in practice Mediacom is not much more reliable than dish, between the outages and flaky equipment. Also, Indianola has 1 gb available now. They have plans with TV too, but I'm not sure if the package savings outweighs what others offer streaming?
