How many games did he play compared to his previous season?
So, he's a project or a top 50 player?
Damn, **** gets confusing around here.
On this site every dogged him for be a project all the time while he was playing. Now in this conversation he was a top 50 recruit that somehow the mightly ISU missed out on to lowly Iowa........
I like to come to this site, but the narrative around here is we are better than Iowa, and no Iowa fan can be right about anything because they like Iowa. Pretty low class. I would be mad about it, but I am hopeful that Iowa will be better next year. ISU fans think that can not happen because of a down year. Just like McD could not coach at another school in a big conference at a high level.....
Fran had a bad year last year. NO hawk fan would say otherwise. But I think the roster is more well rounded now. Sure we could use more slashers at the guard spot, but compared to last season next year looks better with the personnel.
5 guards compared to 3
3 SF compared to 2
and a bunch of 4/5 guys
I like the direction we are taking and look forward to seeing improvement.

I think people dogged him for not going to North Carolina and going to Iowa. Most big men take a year or two to develop, but calling a 4 Star top 50-60 recruit a project is a little dumb.

Iowa State is better than Iowa. Some Iowa fans can be right, but the trolls are rarely are. Iowa fans want to compare Franwich to Matt Painter and McDermott for some reason. Fran isn't magically going to learn to coach or suddenly learn to play fewer guys.

What direction are you taking?

He had surgery last spring/summer and was out until fall.... yes lost weight, not in playing shape
He had surgery last spring (mid May) and was back healthy in August. The narrative I alluded to earlier was spot on. Quotes from a media day article below...
“I haven’t moved like this since I was a sophomore in high school,” Pemsl said at the Hawkeyes’ media day Monday. “To be able to move faster and still have the strength to play down low, I just feel my game expanding.”
He said he’s healthy now as fall practices have arrived, jumping higher, running faster and for longer periods of time. The aficionado of low-post moves is even dribbling past teammates at times.
“He’s playing the best basketball I’ve ever seen him play,” Iowa coach Fran McCaffery said of Pemsl. “A lot of times, when guys trim down like that, they don’t maintain the strength that they had — or the physicality. He’s done both.”
Added athleticism could help Pemsl be a contributor in the biggest goal for the 2017-18 Hawkeyes. Our Main focus is to lock up on defense," Pemsl said.

Defense was a main focus of the 17-18 team in the preseason? And the star defender is switching sports? Yikes.
Defense was the focus last season and you expect it to get better this season? @YeahBuddy and @benjimill lol!

Yes. Not having a center playing the SF position is a step in the right direction.
Last year the focus was defense. I thought you said this year the focus was on defense?
Doesn’t matter what your focus is if the personnel doesn’t fit. Having a center playing SF and your starting PG playing the entire game are not going to lead to a good defense, no matter how much time and attention you give. Neither of those things should be a problem next season, barring injury. But you know that.
What Center was playing SF? Also I would be surprised if Bohannon's minutes went down, he only played 31.8 mpg last year. ISU had 3 guards play more mpg than that lol

ISU also finished at the bottom of the Big 12......
He chose Iowa. So he was terrible according to most ISU fans because of this very thing. If he went to UNC and did OK, you would not be saying the same thing as you are right now. and that is a fact.

He did show up on his Iowa State visit in an Iowa shirt so, yeah, we would be trashing him down in NC too. Woodbury didn't live up to his ranking and Olasani should have got more playing time than he did. How's that for facts?
