Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

I would say fairly well considering he raised his 2 point FG% and got to the line much more frequently than his freshman season.

Probably going to have provide a little more substance. Those stats don't prove he got better at taking and finishing towards the basket.

I’m not going to go through game by game charting his shooting performances. If FG% and FT rate aren’t good enough for you, I guess you’re not going to be convinced.

You think Fran thought Williams, a bad mid major talent was going to be better than his son until he saw him practice and play against horrible teams in Europe?

I am saying it didn’t become clear to Williams that Connor was going to win the backup PG job until Fran saw both of them practice and play against horrible teams in Europe.

Connor must really suck if that's the case. Williams transferred to a bad MVC team!

You understand those stats don't prove your point? Just so we're clear.

They are the best available stats without tracking information like the NBA has. They might not prove anything conclusively but are the best available alternative.

What part of that is trolling? Fran didn't know Connor was better than Williams until right before the start of the season. That's not good for Connor

That’s not what I said. If that is your opinion, that’s fine, but I’m not sure what support you have for it.

Williams wanted to redshirt due to multiple injuries, Fran said no.

You said Fran needed all summer and fall to determine who was the backup. Once he established the entitled one was better Williams transferred to a bad MVC team. Your words not mine

Williams transferred because it became clear that Connor was going to beat him out at the backup PG spot, FWIW. Made it very unfortunate when Connor was forced to miss pretty much the entire season due to illness/injury.

Cracks me up how hoks glance over the premise "Well of course he transferred, he saw someone better coming in that would take his playing time". I get it if you are seeing just a few minutes a game but it is a ridiculous claim for someone like Williams. Especially in Fran's system where he routinely goes 12 deep. So Williams was going to go from 25 min to 15 or 20 for a P5 program and that is why he transferred? I don't think so.

Much more likely that he transferred because the direction and atmosphere sucked.

I'm pretty sure the narrative on Pemsl coming into the season was that he played through injury his freshmen year and was in great shape coming into year 2. He missed one game last year it looks like. He's just flat out not very good and Fran puts him even farther behind playing him out of position but that's a trend seen up and down the roster.

He had surgery last spring/summer and was out until fall.... yes lost weight, not in playing shape
