Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

Try looking at their whole body of work, injuries, Cartwright also was injured I believe his last year. I am not making excuses I am just look at things a little more in depth I guess.

I'm pretty sure the narrative on Pemsl coming into the season was that he played through injury his freshmen year and was in great shape coming into year 2. He missed one game last year it looks like. He's just flat out not very good and Fran puts him even farther behind playing him out of position but that's a trend seen up and down the roster.

To be fair, Pemsl was physically assaulted in December.

You said this: Advanced stats tell a different story.

Which is a lie

It amazes me you guys seem to think that no Iowa basketball player is capable of improvement.

Low ceiling players don't have much room to improve. In what ways do you realistically see Jordan Bohannon improving this year?

Are you serious? He could realistically get better defensively, better ball handling, better decision making, better shooting off the dribble, better floater around the rim, etc. Bohannon can get a lot better still. Why is he a low ceiling player, because he is white?

He would be a nice piece if he played anything more than laughable defense. Defense is 95% hustle and positioning. You can teach both of those. His ceiling is low because of his lack of size and athleticism, but if you (1.) work/teach him to get better and (2.) can disguise him on the opponents' weakest guard, then he has a fighting chance.

I would imagine he would be a nice bench gunner on a good team. He would actually drop into our lineup pretty nicely as a 15-20 minute per night guy next year but, then again, if Lewis can turn into a similar shooter, he is going to have way more of an upside on defense because of his size and athleticism in comparison to Bohannon, if he realizes it.

It's pretty tough to fix slow and unathletic but a man can dream I guess.

I said realistically. Short and slow is a bad combo for D1 basketball. Jordan is a good ball player, but would be better served in a different role.

I think he was actually worse defensively as a sophomore which is really saying something

Well he played almost the entire season with a foot injury, so that wouldn’t really be surprising. However, I know you claim to not watch Iowa games, so I’m not sure how you could make that statement.
