Speaking of travel, it made me remember a story about this guy in town that I somewhat know. He was a lab technician at a hospital but was also in the Guard or Reserves. He was called to deploy and his wife and family were quite nervous, I'm probably closer to his kids' age than his and he retired a couple years ago from his full time job. So he gets deployed a few years before he planned to retire.
His wife found out he would stay state side in SC until he was to leave and they kept pushing it back and he never left which made his wife happy. His wife is a teacher and didn't have time to go see him and he told her best not to while he was down there. His wife felt bad that he was stuck in a hot barracks with no AC and and living a rough life for an older guy in the service.
Well, the dude has his retirement party for his full time job a couple years after he came back home, didn't re-enlist any more and wrapped up his day job. After everyone said how they will miss him and yada yada yada, he gets up to give his last remarks. He goes, "Remember when I left and was stationed in SC for deployment?" People kept listening to him. "Well, there wasn't enough barracks space so they put me up at a Marriot and I stayed there and basically swam in the pool and sat in the hot tub for those 6 (or whatever it was) grueling months. Just thought I would let you know." He just sat down and looked at everyone. Person there said it was dead quiet.

The NCAA tourney bracket is open for anyone interested. If you were in it last year, you should be able to just log into cbssports, find ISU Random Thoughts under the bracket games and fill it out like last year. No divided loyalties this year. I might make it a little farther in the standings!
I think I had Wisconsin and Iowa State meeting in the final (it was either this bracket or the one in my mom's office). Hopefully I'll do better too
Obviously I am biased but I am going to out on a limb that I just wrote the best thread title in CF history in the cave today.
I haven't watched near as much CBB as previous years, so I'll probably do better than normal.
I took Thursday and Friday off (as usual) to binge watch the first two days since the first two rounds of March Madness make up my favorite sports spectacle of the year. As I was coming into work this morning, I debated just working those days since ISU wasn't going to be involved.
Then, Monday morning at work happened and I decided I'm still gonna take those days off.

Taking off is a good choice. I only have class till noon on Thursday, so I'm looking forward to watching the tournament.
And in some ways I'm happy Wisconsin and Iowa State didn't make it in this year. Because it's exciting having them in the tournament, but then when they lose, the rest of the tournament's kind of tainted. Since this was going to be a rebuilding year I'm not disappointed they didn't make it and will now just be able to enjoy the tournament on its own. Next year will probably be different since both teams should be better
