***Big 10 Thread***

I'll guess Ellingson, Moss, and Cook leave.

We need to get Pemsl an extra year as long as Fran promises to keep playing him at shooting guard.

I think that Nunge kid will transfer closer to home to like an Indiana State or some mid major

Cook won't leave will he? He gets the most publicity on a mediocre team.

If Tyler Cook is only going to get 9 shots, you can pretty much bet that they're going to lose. Everyone else's shots in that offense should be incidental except maybe Bohannon.
Why any legitimately good recruit would want to play for a trash program like Iowa and for a coach that models his player usage after hockey game plans is beyond me. You can’t even use the volume argument that normally is given when a top recruit signs with a bad program.

He has to leave if he wants to save his career. He’s already lost a lot of money going to Iowa.
But, since he was crazy enough to go there in the first place, maybe he stays.

I was driving down the road and about spit my water out when Gary credited Iowa's high scoring offense for the reason OSU sold out yesterday for the 1st time in "X" number of years. Yeah I'm sure being in 1st place in the conference had nothing to do with their attendance:rolleyes:.
He actually said this?

Where?

Would be funny for their fanbase to have players transferring out after making fun of ISU fans for playing with transfers.

I was told that there had been some rumors about it on HR from some reliable posters but Iowa's athletic department made Kakert shut them down plus his brother said he was going pro after this year

crazy stuff happens when you have a terrible season that the fan base wasn’t expecting (rightly or wrongly) and your coach gets an extension/huge buyout increase under the table and the coaches kids/friends are taking over the team and you aren’t in that clique.

For me there’s two things with Cook:

1) he was the #74 player in his class...Hok fans treat him like he was a top 20 5 star. He may not ever develop a jumper or face up game because it’s just not in him talent wise.

2) Fran can’t coach him up or he’s limited by what’s around him. No one is required to play any defense so I don’t see him improving in that area. If he feels this way he could leave.

Watch highlights of a Simeon game, and then watch highlights of a Muscatine game.
I have seen dozens of JW games and even officiated a couple. He is good but as this post alludes to, the level of competition is not comparable. He will start at Iowa next year and if Cook doesn't return will be their best player. He has deceptive speed which helps him get in the lane and draw fouls. He is a good enough outside shooter that defenders have to play up on him and at the Iowa HS level, when he gets a step they either let him go (with little to no help D) or foul him. I don't know the stats, but I would not be surprised if he is averaging 12-15 pts a game from the FT.
Edited: I see the stats posted now and he averages 8.5 ppg from the stripe.

I don’t understand why the announcers doing hok games talk so much about how good they are when they are down by 15 to 20 and getting their asses kicked, and how good they are going to be in the future even though that has never happened since Francis has been there

Cook is in an interesting spot. Should he just go pro, play the D league and hope he develops and lands somewhere?

If I were him, i'd transfer to a top 20 program with a tough coach known for big man development. work your butt off for a year while you sit out, and then have a great season and go on and get drafted.
