Yeah, $1M is really conservative, especially if you live until you're 90 or so. My current target is $3 million for retirement. I want to have enough to live comfortably and travel plus have enough on hand in the event of health issues. And if things go well, I'd love to pass along some to my daughter. I'm not counting on crap from SS.

Pretty much what I'm figuring word for word.

I am not even 30 years old. Our net worth is so far down on my list of things I care/am worried about it isn't even funny.

Feel like you should take the net present value of your retirement accounts based on your retirement timeline

I was very wealthy at a time, then I got married. That cured that and i tried to tread water.

I then became a dad, i don't have squat now. Need to find a sugar momma somewhere.

Unless you're overpaying for your home, you should still be in the black after the purchase.

Correct, buying a house should have essentially no effect at all on your net worth because your mortgage is offset by the value of your new asset, the house.

Only time I would disagree is if you build it and especially in a smaller town. We did and it took about 10 years to get back what we stuck into it. (Using comparable sales)

That's my plan, too. If that doesn't work out, Plan B is to steal the Declaration of Independence. Or beg for change off I-235. Whatever's easier.
