All Iowa Football Team---Post Bowl Edition

Well he finished #7 in the final AP Poll for the 2009 season and won a BCS Bowl game. I would say that is probably his best overall season.

His best regular season was 2015.

What was Iowa's Sagarin in 2015 compared to ISU this year?

I still say that if Shonn Greene came back for his senior year, that Iowa would have strongly been in the National Title talk. Only thing that team was missing that year and Greene was a beast.

My list was fair and objective, I cant help it you dont agree with that.

There was a Clone fan in this thread saying Iowa should only have Fant, Jackson and Jewell on the team but I am the one that doesnt value objectivity.
Says the guy adamantly claiming that Stanley is the best QB in the state when there is basically no statistics whatsoever to back up that claim.

Then you should have no problem placing Wadley ahead of Montgomery at RB then.

Wadley had more total yards (1462 to 1442) on less touches (294 to 280) than Montgomery and scored 2 more TD's this season.
Have I not said all year long that those two are surprisingly comparable in terms of results? Montgomery didn't show up much in the last two games of this season, which is unfortunate, but it happens. I think I'd fairly tell you that Montgomery did about the same with less OL help, but that's about it. If a sophomore RB at ISU is equalling a senior RB at ToE in production, I'm happy with that.

Probably would have been in the conversation but Alabama and Texas both finished that year undefeated. I dont see Iowa jumping either one of those teams if they went 12-0.

Aw, still butt hurt about Wadley not being the best RB in the state after all that preseason hype. I thought you Iowa fans got over this months ago. I should know better I guess.

You sure are posting a lot in this stupid thread.

Again, Kempt/Park/Noland had more weapons on the outside than Stanley. And they only put up 1 more PPG than the Iowa offense did.

I'll give you a hint, KF's best regular season = CMC's second year in Ames

In what world does 22 = 25? Just another moral victory for the Clone fanbase.

Also, why are you using Sagarin for the Iowa 2015 season? You always used to use the AP Poll is a team was receiving votes in that over Sagarin. Moving the goalposts again? Shocking.

But I have read all over this board that Iowa's WR are junk. Isnt the fact that Stanley put up that type of production while having a poor WR crew to throw to worth anything?

There is no denying that ISU had many more weapons than Iowa did on the outside for Kempt to use.

Doesnt the fact that this vaunted ISU offense playing in the Big 12 only scored 1 whole point per game more than the junk Iowa offense playing in the B1G concern anyone here?

No, not really.

ISU was in year 2 of a new coaching staff, starting a walk-on QB for the majority of the year.

Crazy that they were able to put up 29.2 per game.

29.2 would have been the 5th best PPG average in the Ferentz era.

I thought you didn't know what Iowa's Sagarin ranking was in 2015?

I looked it up.

Now will you answer my questions?

So now you will turn to a QB that couldnt beat out that walk on?

...so what's your point? Both offenses suck, or what?

+1 PPG = Better. ISU's team QB stats beat ToE's in nearly every category, yet we're supposed to believe that Stanley is the best. Okay then.

As best as we can compare them given their fundamentally different approaches, both offenses performed similarly. Scored nearly the same amount of TDs. ToE has more rushing yards, ISU has more passing yards. ToE averaged more yards per run, ISU averaged more per pass. ToE probably had the better run-blocking OL. All of these things lead me to believe what I've already stated: Stanley was not the best QB when he was outclassed by a circus of 4 other QBs to the tune of 1,000+ yards (does having more help from receivers account for 4-digits of yardage, an extra half-yard per completion, and an extra ~10% completion percentage? I guess that's up to you). Montgomery and Wadley are comparable with Wadley putting up better numbers with some more help from his line.

Also, am I missing something? ESPN shows 258 carries for 1146 yards (4.4/car) and 11 TD for Monty, and 252 for 1109 (4.4) and 10 TD for Wadley. Are their stats wrong?
