Iowa Football Recruiting

You guys need to hope that Campbell can develop players like Ferentz otherwise the recruiting rankings will have to get much better. He is off to a good start so far that is for sure.
The sheer number of young guys and JUCOs getting valuable playing time over previous regime recruits told me all I needed to know about recruiting quality and development for Campbell's staff. I'm not the least bit concerned about their tactics.

Not to mention that recruiting is basically meaningless if you still can't develop from there. I'd rather not have Fran-style players that never improve on any skills whatsoever from year one onward. I've seen Rhoads recruits improve noticeably under Campbell already, too.

“My visit to Iowa was good. It was really quick. I enjoyed Iowa City and everyone there. But I’m sticking with Oregon State,” Petras said.
He visited Iowa and obviously realized how fantastic it is...

This recruiting class is shaping up nicely for Iowa. Thought ISU would be doing better....word on the street is recruits know Campbell only has 1-2 years left at ISU before he moves on......it's obviously hurting recruiting.

He said he was sticking to Oregon State AFTER his visit. Throws up some red flags

Is that what Brian is saying? Just don't upset him unless you want to lose teeth is word on the street.

Looks like Harbaugh is flipping an Iowa commit. He's absolutely killed him on the recruiting trail on signing and flipping kids they wanted

You likely put hours of thought into this troll post and thats the best you could come up with?

I'm the opposite of a recruiting guru and I'm not trying to get into a pissing match but isn't this class suppose to be "bad" for ISU by Matt Campbell standards? Aren't we taking less players this year and 2 of them kickers? Doesn't volume of kids really boost ratings and we won't have as many players? Regardless, Iowa has really stepped it up the last couple of years, coincidentally when ISU picked it up it seems.

Here are the past five years of ISU recruiting according to the rankings.

2018 - 55 (83.83)
2017- 52 (83.90)
2016 - 55 (82.49)
2015 - 64 (82.37)
2014 - 59 (82.64)

This shows how much I pay attention to recruiting... The buzz around here was that ISU did so well with the last 2 classes.

How could he have put hours of thought into that post if it was posted six minutes after the post he was quoting? Some type of time warp?
His "thought ISU would be doing better" post wasn't in response to what he quoted.

ISU's recruiting ranking isn't surprising. You have two kickers, and an OL that is lowly rated because he missed an entire season and opportunity to get re-evaluated by the 247 staff.

ISU never gets recruits to flip? No wonder your recruiting is in the tank. Campbell needs to squash the rumors and pick up his game ;)

I don't remember ISU having a committed recruit visit, come off his visit and say he's sticking with the original school and then lying and flipping 3 days later. CMC goes after high character kids though so that's probably why

Campbell seems to be a much better coach than you had in the past. So he should and probably will out perform the recruiting rankings like Ferentz does most years. Iowa and ISU will never be a hotbed for talented players to come. They will always be developmental programs.

This year's class for ISU is not surprising because typically the year before has more of an effect on the current class except for some guys you get late. Must of the heavy lifting is done before this current season. So expect next year to be an uptick for ISU's recruiting.
