Shakur Juiston on njcaatv.com tonight

Juiston has not done anything against a team with a pulse. He might have helped, but we might be too far away anyways. I hope Talley comes on strong.

McNeill stings a little, but he is still a true freshman, and I doubt he was going to be a high-level contributor for a tournament-level team when he is 19 years old.

Nice to have him going forward, but Prohm's recruiting will fill the void.

I do not think either is obviously what we might need to be much better.

Missing out on one of the shooting guards (Alstork, Brown) might have hurt worse.
They both hurt, but yes, we could be so far away from being good that it doesn’t matter this year.

That's one of the ugliest basketball courts I've ever seen.

Missing out on Juiston and McNeil screwing us over is really going to make this a long year for the Clones I'm afraid. Stinks.

Wouldn’t really make much difference imo and we might not have Shayok, Jacobsen, and possibly Harris waiting in the wings right now.

Michael Porter hasn't done anything at the D1 level either, would you rather have him than Talley? Juiston would be starting right now, most likely the entire season. We literally have one post player right now.

Just like last year.

Small ball is the new black.

Haven’t even played a game and let the “I miss Edozie” games begin! Woooo gonna be a fun season!
Who other than Solomon do we have? I guess you could call Talley somewhat of a post. Brase and Lard aren't playing right now. We have one guy that I would consider a true post that is currently eligible and healthy enough to play. That's a fact. We'll be fine once Brase and Lard return.

I think Juiston AND one of Brown/Alstork/Egor would have moved the needle enough to project us the right side of the bubble and more like a 6th place finish instead of 8th/9th in the Big 12. And I do think one of those big shooting guards would have been a more critical add than Juiston.

Mcneill really hurts in that it would of been a good time to have a freshmen combo guard to develop. He had nice upside with his athleticism and ball handling. I view Haliburton as a somewhat similar get to Mcneill. Mcneill may even be a little more college ready right away (although I'd take Haliburton as the higher ceiling player) but we'll see how much strength Tyrese can add in the next 12 months. Although there likely won't be a ton of need for Haliburton with a guard core of Wigginton, Shayok, Babb, Lewis, and THT.

I hadn't followed UNLV this year, so the thread bump prompted me to look up how they were doing. I learned that they also have Will Clyburn's brother on the roster. Sorry if that's old news, but I thought it was interesting.

Despite having yet another 1-and-done player on their roster. It's gotta be hard for them to be this consistently mediocre.
Likely correlated to the fact that most of their best recruits aren’t choosing to go to that mid-major for basketball reasons.

What's crazy is their one and done, McCoy, and Juiston were as good, or I would say better, than expected. And they still will miss the tournament. That takes an impressive coaching job.
McCoy avging 17pts 10rebs 2blks
Juiston 15pts 10rebs

I think I've reached the conclusion that part of their lack of success on the floor, and a large part of the fact that they continue to get high level recruits, is that their main focus is to let their school be used as a showcase for players rather than to develop a winning program.

Juiston has a nice 2 pt FG percentage at 63+%, but the 48% FT percentage is brutal...as is only getting to the line to attempt 76 FT's...less than 3 attempts per game.

Azubuike for KU 78% fg and 43% ft at 3 per game.

I would take either player for Iowa St, every year.
