No. It isn't. 40 years later it still hurts. If earlier reports that he was put on life support are true than it may very well not matter whether he is gone at this hour. It might just be prolonging the inevitable. Let's hope that neither is true. Having to make the decision to pull the plug on a loved one is never an easy one...
Oh my goodness. This makes me sad.
I'm one on almost double-digit people whi actually liked that movie.
RIP tom petty.
First, this is very sad. Second, I can't hear American Girl and NOT think of Silence of the Lambs (I love that song however).
This is my personal favorite
One of my favorite lines in any song, ever due to the way he pauses and yells is 'God it's so painful when something that's so close is still. So. Far. Outta reeeeeeeach.'
I was making the kids listen to some TP when I picked them up tonight - our barely-three-year-old always calls "Free Fallin'" his favorite song. Mostly because he yells about bad guys and says FREEEEEEE with Tom. <3 "Gonna free fall, out into nothin' - gonna leave this world for a while."
Last line gave me chills.

That song makes me forget I cannot sing worth a lick. Even so, the only phase I can hit right is "Ventura Boulevard".
