I thought a couple of the PI calls on Iowa were a little chincy. But the offensive PI was a huge miss.
What a terribly disappointing loss, but the team looks a lot better than last year. And last year they really improved as the season went on.

I saw the missed holding call on Iowa in the 1st(?) quarter from my seat in row 28 in section K. That one was bad.
It was probably easier to see live. On television, it was in the corner of the screen, but still quite obvious. The loud grumble that rose from the crowd helped to confirm what I saw on TV.
ISU deserved to lose. When u have coaches that are chicken ****, WR that drop 5 passes and 4 for 1st down, repeatedly blown coverages on defense you don't get to win. I glad this team lost. You deserve to lose with that crap performance A win would reward mediocrity.

Heacock needs to give the university back 1/12 of his paycheck after today. Not blitzing much today was head scratching. I put the loss on him
One thing I noticed, on Iowa's longer runs, they were towards Willie Harvey's side of the line. Each time, he would fail to contain the outside route giving Iowa the ability to bounce it to the outside.
Lots of opportunities to improve for LB group. DBs have been very average through two games.

Regarding argument of offense vs. defense (for ISU performance). Defense did well in 1st quarter and had some good series in second half. Offense had a good 2nd quarter and last 2/3rds of third quarter. D did better vs. rushing game than I would've expected, not as good vs. passing game.
I've seen a lot of games in past few seasons when offense and defense combined for a lot worse performance.

Easily should have won, and would have with our starting safety, but sometimes the better team just doesn't win. I'm sure there's a lot of elated kids on the Iowa side- good for them. Props to CMC for getting the team to nearly match Iowa's intensity.
I don't normally post in gameday threads because I figure a significant percentage of posters are drunk but I'll say this - it is tough to make a bowl game when you throw away a lead twice in the second half. Lack of a running game will be a problem for the rest of the season because you are at the mercy of being unable to drain any clock late in the game and run the risk of a crucial interception like the one which allowed Iowa to tie the game.

Who cares about reputation? ISU's reputation coming into this game was that the secondary was salty, but the front seven was weak. Yet at the end of the day, Iowa threw for 333 yards and only averaged 4.0 ypc on the ground (not a particularly strong number with a back like Wadley carrying the bulk of the load).
Iowa does have a few playmakers on offense (Wadley obviously being at the top of that list), and they've got an offensive coordinator who's far less predictable than his predecessor (they've been breaking a lot of KOK/Greg Davis tendencies this year so far). They do have some ability to actually stretch the field (Smith-Marsette has legit speed, and the tight ends are downfield threats, as well). Stanley missed on some big opportunities today, but he's also got a lot of potential (big arm, he showed much better pocket presence and poise today than week 1), and those opportunities were there because they finally have guys who can separate/create some mismatches.
Completely agree, Campbell has been watching too much Iowa tape or something. Their offense was rolling and they needed the knockout blow, instead they ran 3 predictable plays with little effort to even pick up the 1st down.
Blame the refs all you want, but this is where the game was lost. All we needed to do was stay aggressive and pick up a 1st down or 2. I absolutley hate when teams are leading and decide to completely shut down their offense and then hope to hold on.
STFU. You guys won because your team was better prepared, made less mistakes, and had more mental fortitude.
Take your win and slink out of town. The ISU coaches gifted you that win. Don't tarnish it with your bs.
Disappointing loss, especially who it was to, but I still think we have a chance to have a record as good as the Hoks when all is said and done. They are not going to beat PSU, tOSU or Wisconsin and I suspect they'll find a way to lose one or two others. Their O and D lines are always overrated. The Big 12 looks rather soft at the bottom this season. Just hurts that we let this win get away.
