OK - who wins the game on Sept. 9th ?

I reserve the right to change my prediction because I literally change my mind everyday with this game

I think Kirk let CJ play be cause CJ was hurt, not injured. I remember last year hearing rumblings of CJ really screwing up his knee, then he came out with a brace, and he proceeded not to run much.

I don't have a problem with that then. If he had a torn hamstring he was definitely injured so that must not have been the case. I still think what he did with Scherff just to try to win a rivalry game was disgusting.

Yet Kirk kept playing him. We already know Kirk doesn't care about risking kid's futures by running them to the ground in order to win (Scherff, Ott, rhabdo, etc.).

I sure hope Wadley doesn't regret coming back for another year and costing himself millions like Desmond King did. Or, if he gets injured and KF keeps playing him until he ruins him. I'd feel for him if any of that happens to the kid. He's talented.

But Scherff wanted to play, and wanted that Super Bowl so bad. Players run the show in IC and tell the coaches what they are going to do, instead of the coaches telling them to sit so they save their careers.

You can play after a surgery like that if you are in shape and have the proper treatment. I think he had it scoped not repaired and got shot up with some pain meds. People literally do this all the time. If he got it repaired and still played he was aware of the risk because he took out insurance for that year I believe.

He played injured that game. This is from the Hawkeye side of things and it's no secret. I'll never look at KF the same after that one.

okay, but what did the pass defenses rank who he played against? What was Beathard's rating against ISU and what was Park's against Iowa?
What pass defense stats would you like to use?

The big tin runs the ball far more than any other conference so their pass defense numbers are greatly skewed due to the style of play. But when you have passing offenses like Indiana and Purdue, they can can put up decent passing numbers.

For example...Purdue put up 458 yards and 35 points on iowa. iowa was the 5th best pass defense in the big tin. Indiana put up 420 on Rutgers which statistically had the 4th best pass defense in the big. illinois had the third best pass defense and gave up 300 yards to any team with a pulse. Now, I am not claiming illinois and rutgers are great pass defense...they aren't but statistaclly, they are in the top four of the big tin because they sucked so bad against the run, people never threw the ball.

Not sure comparing performance against iowa/iSu is all that relevant. iSu had one of the worst defenses in all of college football last year. Park joined the team late summer, iowa was the first game he ever took D1 snaps, with a new staff who hadn't settled on a starting OL. At the time he was the back up to a running QB and he took over when iSu was down 42-3.

Meanwhile, beathard was playing behind the country's best OL, in his second year as a starter with 15 starts under his belt. iowas defense was far better than isU's

And CJ still has more talent than Park. The NFL understands this, you don't

Wut? This doesn't even make sense, but shouldn't be surprising coming from you.

Beathard was a graduating senior last year with no college eligibility left, and Park was a sophomore at ISU. So how do you know how the NFL looks at these two players? What if Park ends up being a first or second round pick in a couple years? You never know.

Plus, we're comparing Park to this year's Iowa QB's, not last years Beathard. No wonder you rate Iowa's QB position better than ISU.... you still think Beathard is at Iowa, now I get it.

Crazy to hear Hawk fans bash Park, his numbers last year > Beat Hard's. Judging by the stats, he's more accurate and a much smarter QB. That's playing behind one of the worst p5 Olines in the country, wonder what he could do behind that elite oline.

Park didn't have a single other offer when he signed with ISU. Iowa's QB had much better offers than Park when they signed with Iowa than Park did when he signed with ISU. Advantage Iowa.
If you want to ignore his HS offers then that is fine. It makes you look silly. It is a direct comparison to the HS offers of iowa QBs

No matter how you look at it...Park has a better resume. If you want to look at HS recruiting profiles...Park wins. You want to look at on field performance...Park wins.

Bear with me here.

I am trying to get the Hawk folk types to just predict the game. This has nothing to do with UNI.

I'm sick of the back and forth about draft picks, who is faster, who had offers... etc.

I want those guys to put it on the line and pick. Twins has already stepped up.

Picking a football game outcome is really stepping up and/or putting it on the line.

I think Iowa controls the ball in 4th quarter and wins 27-24.

He was a hugely sought after recruit out of high school. There is no denying that.

What difference does that make? The year that ISU got him, all the other schools could have come back and offered, but everyone passed. ISU took a chance on a complete bust basically. That isn't a shot at Park, he has done great, but he wasn't a sought after recruit when ISU got him.

Who was the last hawkeye QB to play in the NFL? Chuck Long? Beathard does't have far to go to be considered best Pro performance by a hawk qb.

Why would I care about his HS offers? He went somewhere and was a total bust. Good for him that he is making the most of his shot at ISU, but that is what he was, a bust that nobody wanted.

I didn't rank Iowa QB > than Park. I only said don't be surprised that by the end of Jr year, going into 2018 the QB position will be debatable. Saying right now just Iowa QB > Park would be almost as stupid as saying right now that Montgomery/Warren = Wadley/Butler

Park numbers was the product of a spread system, and playing in the defense optional Big12. He doesn't have the talent of CJ or even Rudock for that matter.
Matt Campbell runs a run oriented spread attack. Meaning they run the ball more than pass. This is representative of 75% of of the Big 12. I know that is hard for big tin fans to understand but the Big 12 is not a "pass happy" league. They are statistaclly right in the middle of P5 conferences in % Passing attempts over the last five years. Meaning they are average in the 5 of the time they run/pass.

As a starter, Park played against all the top defenses in the Big 12 except 1. His numbers improved as the season went on. Which could be expected from a guy not playing for a year and not starting with a program until August.

He's gonna bust it off in Iowa's ass this year
