The Big 12 is a better defensive league than the Big Ten. That's all I'm saying. I mean that's a ton less points given up
Then convince the NCAA to uodate their stat rankings to reflect this.

OSU is not a blue blood program. tOSU is, but ISU doesn't play them. I'll give iowa credit for having solid lines and a scheme that keeps them close in a lot of games...even against more talented teams. But that scheme also allows less talented teams to stay in the game against them. Iowa thrives on other teams either not being able to pass the ball and also making mistakes. See Michigan last year or ISU to a much greater extent last year.
All I'm saying is that iowa does not have the sheer talent to blow games open that quite a few B12 teams have. Despite the "staggering" number of draft picks, if ISU limits their turnovers, penalties and defensive lapses, they'll win. If they don't, they'll lose. I expect that ISU will be a little more organized on the OL and in the passing game this year, so the game is likely to be close no matter what.
Where is anyone saying Iowa has great "Sheer talent"? Hawk fans will tell you they are a developmental program, not a program built on "sheer talent".
Also no **** that the team that has fewer turnovers, penalties and defensive lapses will win the game. The is only the basic formula to win football games since the dawn of time. Good teams like Iowa win those battles more often than they lose them. Crappy teams like ISU say things like we would have won 6 games if we didn't turn the ball over, commit penalties and have defensive lapses.
That's exactly what I said minus the good/crappy generalization. Iowa doesn't beat teams with sheer talent. At least not decent teams. Most B12 teams have more explosive talent than iowa. Doesn't mean they are all better. I feel that ISU can match iowa in athleticism and talent (although it might not transfer to the NFL). I think that ISU can expose some weaknesses in Iowa's team including a predictable scheme, subpar passing game and average pass defense. But, they can't make a bunch of mistakes or they'll become one-dimensional and iowa will grind out the clock.
"Explosive talent" just means offensive talent. Iowa easily has more defense talent than 90% of the Big12, so I don't know why you think offensive talent is the only thing that matters.
ISU can surely beat Iowa, they have Proven that. ISU doesn't have close to Iowa's defensive talent, OL talent, RB Talent, or TE talent. Sure they might match Iowa at QB, and are far better at the WR position, but that is it.
90% so 9 teams? I'll go ahead and disagree that iowa has more defensive talent than every team but OU. UT has more defensive talent. We'll see if they play like it. I'd put iowa on par with KSU and WV. I'm talking THIS year. I don't see a ton of defensive talent at iowa outside of Jewell. Neiman is OK. DBs are young and somewhat unproven. DE has some decent players, but not exactly world beaters. Same with DT. I think that they have a scheme that gets results better than the sum of their parts...which is not an insult IMO.
As far as comparing to ISU, I'll give you the OL, DL and LB. But ISU is better at WR, QB, DB. I'm not going to concede RB talent. Even though iowa has some good ones, so does ISU. TE, we'll see. Chase Allen should be pretty good, but he hasn't proven anything yet. Special teams are a push IMO.
Mostly agree but it's pretty delusional to think Iowa doesn't have a clear advantage at RB with Wadley alone, not to mention with the addition of Butler.

The same Butler that couldn't run on Purdue?
Iowa has two RBs better than any RB on Iowa State's roster but you aren't willing to concede RB? Lol.
Like I said, Wadley alone makes Iowa's RB clearly > ISU's. Butler is just gravy.
I love players like Wadley and Ryen. Ryen is more versatile but both are assets. Butler has struggled against P5 teams but you're not going to turn away a walk on with experience

Cute. A little desperate, but cute.

??? They're both small skill position players with speed. Ryen is more versatile though
Aside from the fact that Wadley is widely considered among the best college RBs in 2017 and Ryen isn't anywhere near the radar of best RBs, spot on.
But I will say our guy Gervase and Cotton-Moya are both pretty dynamic safeties.
Link to Wadley being one if he best college RBs? Is he a straight RB or is he going to be a RB/WR hybrid type? I think you guys could take advantage of him running a lot of screens and getting him out in space so his tiny little body doesn't have to take much damage between the tackles. It's too bad your best RB Daniels graduated, you guys could use a player like him
