Iowa's TE Kittle ran faster 40 than Lazard. Should move to TE

The Big Ten might have more draft picks than the Big 12 but I'm a college football fan, not an NFL fan and your conference gave up 1000 more points last year. Must be nice playing in a defense optional conference!

First of all you lied. The Big12 gave up 3787 point.

Plus everyone knows the BigTen is an offensive powerhouse. They scored 5025 points to the Big12 4232 points. Yikes that is bad offensive football by the Big12.

This is just ******* stupid, both of you.

The B1G has 4 more teams so they play about 50 more games than the Big 12.

The Big 12 is a better defensive league than the Big Ten. That's all I'm saying. I mean that's a ton less points given up

Right. Iowa continues to produce NFL draft picks at a high rate, while the B12 just had their 5th straight year of the lowest NFL picks by major conferences.

This year, the AAC outproduced the B12 in raw totals, although you edged them in per-team average 1.4 to 1.25. Congrats

Iowa produces NFL picks at a "high rate" mostly because they have a pro style system and prepares NFL ready OLs. A LOT of those guys wash out. They also develop some pretty good TEs and DBs. Sorry, I'm not all that impressed with iowa's talent. It's not overwhelming like OU's is. They are not explosive like OSU. They don't have the pure talent of TX (although they are usually better coached). Beating iowa is the same as it ever was: stop the run game or they'll grind it out on you and win (usually late). Same with KSU.

Also, when comparing draft picks, shouldn't per-team be the only thing that matters? I guess unless you have an agenda...

hawk fans excuse their poor performance (compared to expectation) by the fact that they have draft picks. Despite the fact that A: college football not nfl and B: if you have so many great draft picks why do you get run out of the gym anytime you play outside of your crap conference.

So Iowa isn't as talented as the Blue Blood programs like OU and OSU? Derp, no kidding, big shock here.

For being a program that gets nearly all 3* kids, the amount of them they send to the NFL is staggering. The numbers are what they are, even if you try to sell them short.

Then why have they finished unranked 14 of the last 20 years? You sound like more of an NFL fan than an Iowa fan

Why did OU get their asses handed to them at home by OSU? Why did ISU BB get their asses handed to them by Iowa?

The amount of Derp around here over Iowa getting blown out a few time is funny. Iowa has six losses of 20 points or more to the following programs since 2008:

Penn St (twice)
Michigan
Florida
Stanford
Minnesota

All Top tier programs outside Minnesota.
Add three more losses if you say losses of 17 or more should be on the list: Tennessee, OU, and Wisconsin.

How does that stack up to say a Blue Blood Big12 powerhouse like OU? Since 2008 OU has Eight 20+ point losses:

OSU
Clemson (twice)
Baylor (twice)
Texas A&M
Oklahoma St
Texas Tech

The Derp around here is crazy high, if you think Iowa is getting rolled much more than most other programs, this includes Blue bloods like OU.

Iowa has finished in the top 10 5 times in the last 15 years. This is tied for 9th most top 10 finishes over that time period amount P5 programs.

Iowa has 14 bowl appearances over the last 16 years. So Even when they aren't a top 20 team they are winning 7 games.

OSU is not a blue blood program. tOSU is, but ISU doesn't play them. I'll give iowa credit for having solid lines and a scheme that keeps them close in a lot of games...even against more talented teams. But that scheme also allows less talented teams to stay in the game against them. Iowa thrives on other teams either not being able to pass the ball and also making mistakes. See Michigan last year or ISU to a much greater extent last year.

All I'm saying is that iowa does not have the sheer talent to blow games open that quite a few B12 teams have. Despite the "staggering" number of draft picks, if ISU limits their turnovers, penalties and defensive lapses, they'll win. If they don't, they'll lose. I expect that ISU will be a little more organized on the OL and in the passing game this year, so the game is likely to be close no matter what.
