So...you guys are letting go of your little girls. They're becoming independent...they don't need daddy anymore.
At what point does a son stop needing mommy?
Just got off the phone with my son. He is changing jobs. He "hasn't seen his social security card in years". He needs a birth certificate to get a replacement card.
him: Do you by any chance have a copy of my social security card in your files somewhere?
me: I don't think soooo?
him: Okay, what about my birth certificate?
me: you mean the one I had to get from the county recorder in Washington and sent to you so that you could get your security clearance 15 years ago? The one that replaced the original that I gave you when you got married and set up housekeeping with someone instead of various crash-pads? THAT birth certificate? You need to get a lock box.
him: Ma, I have a lock box.
me: well, then, you need to put your important papers IN the lock box!!!
I may still have a copy of his certificate at home (maybe not certified, maybe just a photo-copy of the certified one I sent him 15+ years ago. You see, I KNOW my son. He has a genius level IQ, but has the attention span of a gnat unless the topic interests him.
Maybe I should also mention that this son turns 38 next month.
Oy!
BTW...I'm not going to look super hard for the copy. Instead, I gave him the basic info - what county he was born in, and to contact the county recorder's office there to request a duplicate of his BC. I did that once...he can do it this time.
