Iowa Football Recruiting

I don’t get the hate for Mac and Fred on this board. The two guys who completely turned around ISU ****** programs at the time, and all they get is scorn and hate on here. Like getting your ass kicked is better than being average in Mac's case.

ISU was 43-43 in Mac’s last 7 years with only 2 losing seasons in those 7 years. Pollards replacements have gone 40-83 in the 10 years since Mac was fired with 9 losing seasons in 10 years.

Moron.

Naw, Morons are the fans that were mad at a .500 program, but love them some Chizik, Rhoads and CMC who have given ISU fans the worst P5 program in the country the last 10 years.

You don't think Mac had it a lot easier with the Big 12 North? Hawkeye fans used to foam at the mouth with how easy he had it. Oh well now we got CMC so we're golden

This is a blurb from Kris Wright (UVA's equivalent of Chris Williams) - who writes for a couple UVA publications. Just going out on a limb, but I am guessing he knows a little more about the Shayok situation than either you or CyTwins.

Shayok’s minutes never settled into a regular place due to a combination of injuries and inconsistency on both ends of the floor but certainly on defense. Over the course of the past two seasons, Shayok slid into the starting lineup for brief stretches only to see his minutes virtually disappear weeks later. He eventually worked his way back for postseason play both years, but with more wing talent joining the fray next season, a clear picture for playing time did not appear likely.

Good find, although this guy seems a tad more objective than Willliams.

Chizik played in the Big12 North, so did Rhoads for 2 years and he didn't do better than what Mac did.

Getting 6 wins shouldn't be a challenge, it should be the bare minimum. Winning 2-3 non conference games along with 3 or 4 conference games isn't hard. That is basically beating the bad teams on your scheduled and 1 or 2 fringe 6-6 or 7-5 Bowl teams. It is funny that ISU fans act like this is impossible, heck you played 3 teams ranked in the top 25 last year is all. The rest you should actually win some of those games.

Chizik sucked and Rhoads had his most success in the Big 12 North. Are you really saying it wasn't easier to win at ISU when they were in the Big 12 North? Lol I've never heard a Hawkeye fan do anything but bash how easy it was back then

Yes, both Iowa and ISU schedule was easier when they played 8 conference games. Going to 9 conference games when you are a bad program is tougher. Yet to think 6 wins is difficult is stupid. Beat the bad teams on your schedule and a couple average teams and you win 6 games.
