Iowa Football Recruiting

What did I say that was wrong? Any guy with half a pulse on D would be ISU's best defender. If Shayock saw enough minutes to be 2nd leading scorer at UVA, he's probably a better defender than most guys who have played at ISU in the last 5 years. And with their slow down pace at UVA, I would expect Shayock will up his scoring some at ISU. I expect him to be a double digit scorer and a solid defender on the wing. Not all conference by any means. He's a solid get as a transfer.
It is completely hypothetical....and you have every right to be super optimistic about your recruits. I won't stop you and completely believe that you believe what you are saying is reality.

Hah!!! That's all you have? You first say that everything I posted was incorrect. Then you back track and say you did not mean the part about the All ACC Defensive Team absence. Now you can't even come to grips with an article published by someone the equivalent to Chris Williams at UVA. I wouldn't expect anything else......
Back track? I know the Shayok didn't make the All-Defensive team, so no kidding I wouldn't refute that.

That article literally says something like "likely due to the infusion of guard talent".

Seems to be very speculative to me. I tell you what, if Shayok comes in and is terrible I will eat crow.

Very confident that won't happen.

Just gives the trolls like you a reason to obsess about him being "bad" until it doesn't become true.

It's called replying to an alert. McCarney shouldn't have lost two Big 12 North title opportunities and been 4 plays from 0-12 his last year. His overall record against iowa was fine, his record against anyone decent was not and it got him fired.
He lost to Iowa three of his last four years, correct?

Hypothetical? I'd call it an educated guess. Guy averaged, what, 9ppg in the ACC in a slow down offense? I don't think its "super optimistic" to say he'll average double digits at ISU after a sit out year. I also don't think it is super optimistic to say that a guy who played in that system can play D as well or better than most of the guys who have played at ISU in the past few years, because the D at ISU has been poor at best. Guess I don't see how I'm going out on a huge ledge here. Maybe your hatred is blinding you.

Hah!!! Here is my canned Shayok response from now on......and it wasn't even that hard to find.

Shayok’s minutes never settled into a regular place due to a combination of injuries and inconsistency on both ends of the floor but certainly on defense. Over the course of the past two seasons, Shayok slid into the starting lineup for brief stretches only to see his minutes virtually disappear weeks later. He eventually worked his way back for postseason play both years, but with more wing talent joining the fray next season, a clear picture for playing time did not appear likely.

This comes from UVA's equivalent of Chris Williams.....

I like how I tried to get this back to Iowa Football recruiting and instantly Iowa fans for some reason bring up a grad transfer bball player.

I know there isn't a lot to be excited about (rivals and espn haven't evaluated him he's so unknown) but that's sad.

Obsession.

Sure. And he beat iowa 6 of his last 9. If you really think that he got fired because of his record vs iowa, you live in a strange little world.
Meh. He lost last three of four and that definitely didn't help him in the end. In all honestly, I thought they should have kept McCarney.....but Jamie Pollard won't accept losing to Iowa.

Maybe if you keep repeating it (for your sake) it will become true.

"A clear picture for playing time did not appear likely."

Of course to you that means "he was forced out because he wasn't any good."

His game seems very similar to Chris Babb. I'd take another Chris Babb any day.

Hah!!! You're right. "A clear picture of playing time did not appear likely' is exactly how I would want my situation described.

You'll just have to keep wishing every day that Shayok is as bad as you are hoping he is.

I like that you avoided the Chris Babb comparison, but I know that doesn't fit your troll.
Hah! I don't have to wish anything....I just need to read the article from Kris Wright (UVA's equivalent to Chris Williams), but as I told another poster, you have every right to be excited and optimistic about your recruits. I just don't have to agree and believe your opinion represents current reality, because I know that extreme bias is alive and well across all fan bases....i.e. see picture of CyTwins.

I stand corrected. This Terry Roberts must be good if Iowa was able to steal him from Notre Dame.

I don’t get the hate for Mac and Fred on this board. The two guys who completely turned around ISU ****** programs at the time, and all they get is scorn and hate on here. Like getting your ass kicked is better than being average in Mac's case.

ISU was 43-43 in Mac’s last 7 years with only 2 losing seasons in those 7 years. Pollards replacements have gone 40-83 in the 10 years since Mac was fired with 9 losing seasons in 10 years.
