The top teams in the Big12 have an easy path every year. They play 2 conference top 25 opponents is all. So if CMC were to ever finish in the top 10 in year 4 like Ferentz did, odds actually say that there is a 80% chance that ISU played 2 conference top 25 opponents.

Are you saying the top teams in the Big 12 only have to play 25 opponents the entire season every year because Oklahoma State did it once? I mean Oklahoma played 3 just last year

OU only played 2 top 25 conference teams, OSU and WVU.
Your whole point this entire time was Iowa face 2 ranked conference opponents.
You said if CMC wouldn't only play 2 ranked conference teams in year 4. Fact is there is a 80% chance this is exactly what would happen if CMC could finish in the top 10 in year 4 like Ferentz did.
And one of those was a Big 10 team OOC. Kudos to them for scheduling that.
I said Iowa played 2 ranked teams the entire season, not just conference opponents. Reading is hard I know

Link to Oklahoma playing 3 Big 12 opponents that finished in the Top 25?

That remains to be seen. Iowa beat two top 15 teams on the road that year and played six bowl teams and that doesn't include a talented MSU squad and tough Miami of Ohio team.
Iowa had the 49th ranked SOS that year which is what ISU had last year.
By last year I was talking about 2015. TCU, Baylor and Okie State
So you are counting on Iowa being top 25 then ro push that up to 3 ranked teams?
Iowa has one top 25 finish in the last 7 years so yes the one year they finished in the top 25 they are counted towards it
Except that was year 4 with a really nice Oline for Iowa. I recall that year well because ISU peaked, then played an OU team that played like they had 25 guys on the field and it was all down hill from there, while Iowa got on a roll.
MSU sucked that year, but Iowa's run was fun to watch from an outside perspective. Any good QB they faced though tore them up and it was up to the opponent simply finishing the job. I remember a friend talking about how Carson Palmer and Co. hadn't seen what Iowa brought to the table, and I could only laugh because they clearly didn't know what USC was like...they found out.
Having that kind of season requires talent and plenty of luck for anyone, and ISU having both at the same time would be quite a feat within itself. If ISU goes even 6-6 this season there's hope the CMC could have a really, really nice season at some point but even with talent there's always this weird mental ceiling that doesn't allow for new steps. I used to call it McCarney ball but it's mainly an Iowa State thing.
So you admit that odds are Much, much greater that a 11 win CMC team would face 2 ranked opponents. That is great, I knew that from the beginning, it is nice that you finally admitted it.
