Lil Ferentz takes digs at ISU

Who says ISU isn't telling a kid I have a need for 4 WRs and when those spots are filled the offer is off the table. Yes ISU is going to over offer they pretty much have to get in on kids early and stick with them. Most wont ever think of going to ISU but it is getting ISU name out there and a foot in the door. Iowa is in a much better place than ISU and can be a little more picky. CRP didn't offer high level kids because he knew he couldn't get them, and that method sucked the talent out of the program.

Anyway, I took BF's comments and being upset ISU is offering kids before Iowa is and forcing Iowa to make a decision on them before Iowa is ready to.

Both sides (Iowa and ISU) are doing what is in their interests, which is as it should be. Iowa is not averse to handing out early offers, especially to out of state kids where they know that they have no shot with a guy unless they are early to the party. Many of the in-state kids Iowa can take more if its time with. It can come back to bite them in the butt (Oliver Martin) but in general it's been a sound strategy.

Campbell will have to deal with the backlash of potentially rescinding offers to in-state kids. That's his issue. The whole thing is much ado about nothing. Iowa's usual mode is to say nothing about anything, so when one assistant says a couple of things that are slightly edgy, everyone reacts.

Not anymore. That's why BF is irritated enough to say it out loud.

BS, shotgun blasting offers doesn't require more work. It's actually the opposite.

Only if you don't do your homework beforehand or continue to recruit afterward. If you really believe that iowa puts in more work on their 100 offers than ISU does on their 300, you're an idiot. ISU is in a position where they have to work harder and longer at recruiting. Just the way it is.

The reason for the comments is that ISU and Minnesota have sped up the process in the state. Iowa can't sit on a kid until his SR season is half over. They have to make an earlier decision than they'd like, which introduces more risk. Guessed they are not all that happy about it.

I can see the big risk with ISU's strategy is the relationship built with the players' coaches getting burned and thus only a short term strategy. I could see how a HS coach of a player could turn around and not give ISU the time of day on future kids because of how they burned one of their former players.

It's kind of liking asking 5 girls to the prom. There is one you really really want to go with, and then you hope if she won't that one of your 4 backup options works out.

to sum up campbells thoughts when asked about it, when told it was brian ferentz he basically said who? then he said I guess I dont waste time worrying what others are doing and I focus on my team. Perfect responses.

With 300+ offers out to '18 kids and already 70+ offers out to '19 kids he is just trying to remember who the "real offers" are too, which ones were "conditional offers". I hope he can at least remember the kids names he offers.

Staff is proficient in MS Excel. Said so on their resumes & Pollard performed due dilligence to verify it. Lil Ferrentz doesn't know what a spreadsheet even is (thinks that term refers to what his mother did after he woke up & left the house for the day) & Barta failed to follow up on it. During court case for Lawsuit Meyer just won seriously questioned lack of following procedures in hiring of Lil F & wrestling coach(es). Apparently this issue has come home to roost.

BigLame sums up your post perfectly.

Sure, but how many players has ISU "burned"? If you're talking a pulled scholarship, that is one...the DE from TX (Lamp). The OL from IL was asked to greyshirt, but he still had a 5 year ride, so I don't know how that would piss a coach off. If you are talking slow playing guys further down on your list, everyone does that to some extent, so I don't know how a HS coach can hold a grudge about that.

But why do you care so much? Also over half the big 10 has over 250 offers out for 18 kids. Whar the outrage?

First of all not 1 BigTen team has over 250 offer out. Plus 250 is crazy stupid I'll rip on them too. Yet ISU is at over 330.

Everyone gets schools offer a lot of people, but there isn't any way that even half of ISU offers are even commutable. Why offer them? You can recruit a kid without lying to him saying he has an offer when he doesn't. Iowa is recruiting well over 93 kids, probably over 200 kids I'd bet. What they aren't doing over 1/2 the time is lying to the kid saying they have an actual offer.

Whatever ISU is doing is working because Campbell has recruited very well here so far
