Hey,I agree 100%, I give coach Prohm alot of credit for pulling this team together. I think he has really grown and become a better coach instead of just relying on talent which I felt he did much of last year and this season.
I'll give the guy credit where credit's due, I'll criticize him when I feel that is due also, thats part of being a fan.
Relative to Free Pizza CHA, it was pretty impressive. Definitely still respectable.

I love this generation and how they will post every inane, stupid thought instantly as it comes across their brain. My generation (for the most part) is still a little reluctant to go on record with silly trivialities lest we invariably get proven wrong to the whole world.
Having said that, I MAY have to review my 15,000-ish posts to ensure I have more than a few inconsistencies!

I think everyone wants ISU to win, some of us just have different ways of dealing with losses. Some of you guys are level headed and see the big picture, some of us have anxiety issues and think the next loss is going to lead to 7 losses in a row and we end up in 9th place in the conference.
No we wouldn't. We were never an NIT team. That narrative was **** then and it's **** now. We lost to a top 5 team when this thread was created. Every game we lost was a top 50 adjusted game and people should have been able to see at the time that a team performing like ISU was according to the numbers wasn't going to continue losing close games.
Also, while Solomon Young has certainly helped, he was far from the reason we won last night.
This post goes to the root of your problem. Steve Prohm did not suddenly learn how to coach mid-season. The players finally got the messages he was sending them.
I don't know that I'd call people who bring up month old threads, from immediately after a loss, and who just want to rub it in your faces, level headed.

After the Jan 31st game we had an NIT resume, we hadnt beaten Kansas yet, our best win at the time was Tech. It easy to go back now and say this but revisionist history isnt the best way to look at things.

Well I said the same thing at the time. I said this wasn't even a bubble team. Who was right? Was it the guy that looked at the 26th best team on Kenpom, saw zero bad losses, a second half schedule that lined up pretty well, and concluded that a team of that quality wasn't going to continue to lose close games to good teams or was it the people that overreacted to two losses that weren't even bad and went stomping off screaming about an NIT bid and Prohm being on the hot seat? I think it was the ones who looked at all available information.
Next time just ask and we'll give you and internet hug to make you feel better. Then you don't have to post silly overreactions.
I don't disagree with that but this idea that he was the magic elixir isn't always accurate. What's won these games is an offense that is working and good shooters shooting well. Defensively, we've actually gotten significant'y worse but the offense has improved so much that it's washed that out. Hopefully, we see Young go from effective to productive over the next 10 games.
Ok, I give you alot of credit then for not melting down and seeing the big picture. You were right, we made the tourney easily and took care of business in the 2nd half.
On flip side, nobody can really say for sure on Jan 31st that they knew this would happen. I mean, what if we wouldnt have beaten Kansas? Or we still had Bowie and Holden trying to stop Big 12 frontcourts?
Just because things turned out ok doesnt by any means things were ok on Jan 31st. We were most certainly a bubble team/NIT at that point in time. We had just gotten pretty much blown out in the 2nd half against both Vanderbilt and West Virginia, and our offense looked awful for much of the first half of the season.
And just for the record, Im very pleased with the way things have turned out, I dont think its fair to go back and criticize people for having serious doubts about our post-season hopes on Jan 31st though.

having doubts is one thing. Declaring Hilton Magic dead is quite another. Don't try to diminish the ridiculousness of the OP. What he was doing was a far cry from what you're talking about.
I just hope everyone remembers this thread next season if/when the Cyclones start out slowly as they try to find their post-Core Four identity.
