Hilton magic is dead

While he is not the brightest poster by any means this wasn't the most outrageous thing. Saying it was dead was to far, but to deny that it was under serious threat to go dormant at that point would be just flat out wrong. The timeout usage and the poor offensive execution along with the poor results were very tough early on this season. It has turned around, but that is the key it turned around.

If he said Hilton Magic was in hibernation this thread doesn't exist. Hibernation and death isn't anywhere close to the same thing. Fans waiting for its team to give them something to cheer for is a completely different thing than fans having absolutely nothing to cheer for.

Actually, I disagree - this year's team actually plays a little bit of defense, so it is a little different. ;)

I meant it's not different in that they had to find their roles and gel as a team, like in previous years.

The defense is a pleasant surprise though. Just need that post defense and rebounding and we're all set!

Of course this gets bumped. Last 2 games have been great but most of the year has been mediocre tbh

It needs to be revisited. As the old adage goes, when a dog misbehaves you rub it's face in the issue to correct the behavior. The same runs true for angsty tweens such as yourself.

You should be thanking Janny for bringing this garbage back up, he's only trying to help.

Well, we do now. It just took a lot of the season for anyone to figure out just what we had in Solomon Young.

Solomon Young had an early season injury. There is no doubt that his presence is a difference maker. The resurgence has happened with the emergence of Solomon Young as a starter.

Prohm should get credit for making that change. And he should also get credit for the defensive effort and effectiveness we have now. CFH's teams were not as good on defense.

tbf Hoiberg didn't really need to worry about it as much. We were elite offensively and not so terrible at rebounding. Now we have to create turnovers to make up for our bad rebounding.

Weird - it posted before I even said anything.

The improved defense is the most important change to this team. During the Hoiberg era we had no choice but to outscore every opponent in a shootout because he didn't preach defense. Fortunately we won those games more often than not, but anytime our guys had a poor shooting night, whether they were just off or ran into a defense that could handle them, you knew how that particular game was going to end.

Especially this year, though, that's not necessarily the case. In the Hoiberg era, if we wanted to win games had no choice but to score at least 70 points. That hasn't necessarily been the case this year, even though ISU has scored 70+ most games this year.

Guys, this happened last year too. I like to think that our fans our smart enough to let things play out, after all the ups and downs we have been through in the last handful of years, but I know that is a fantasy.

The overractors are what make ISUs fanbase, the CycloneNation we know and love. Sure, I can't stand it, but it does show that people care so much about this team that they are passionate enough to express their opinions on the message board. Obviously the things that come from it is usually the same things being said over and over. But in the end, if they win the games, people all have the same goal and want for these Cyclones.

I am not going to crucify a person for calling it as they see it, but maybe just maybe set the phone down or walk away from the computer, come back 15 minutes later and see if you still think it is a big enough deal to post it.

That is my internet etiquette 101 for the day. Carry on.

Magic is always given at Hilton to those who ask for it.

Not ashamed one bit for what I said on January 31st after we werent even competitive in a home game. We looked like an NIT team at the time, might still look like that if Solomon wasnt inserted into the lineup.

The guy who you said can't coach made the decision to play Solomon and more than likely had a hand in developing him to the point he was ready to play at this level.
People forget that Solomon played early before he got hurt and, not surprisingly, played like a freshman. He's playing much better now and I have a feeling Prohm had something to do with that.
The rotation of players has also been refined which is a result of good coaching.

There are Prohm haters out there and will post these types of things no matter what happens. Where were these threads last year when Fred took probably the most talented team we've had in a long time to a 6th place finish in the league?

I think the job that Prohm has done this year (especially since January) is the best coaching job we've seen here since Eustachy. Is he perfect? Hell no, there are plenty of things he can improve upon.
