Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

Why is the Big 10 tourney a week early next year? That is really hilarious that they have to compact their conference schedule just to play in Madison Square Garden per Jim Delany's requests. He must want travel to be easier for all the droves of Penn State and Rutgers fans that will be there.

Big Ten in DC and MSG? Lmao! Makes sense because 3 out of 14 teams are from the east coast. Bring it back to Indy or Chicago where it belongs. Delaney is a joke.

Chill out, it was an honest question.

Since conference play started, I would guess there have been zero P5 games on Friday nights on ESPN.
My guess is because high major conferences don't want to play basketball on Highschool basketball night. You want recruits to be able to come to your games. Now that High School basketball is on a break before playoffs or starting up on Saturday like Minnesota. Friday opens up a day where you might have viewers that normally went to the local HS for a game on Friday.

Friday night isn't exactly a "primetime" slot for college sports. Why don't they do it all year then? Why doesn't college football put big time games on Friday nights?

Why does the Big 10 play on Sunday nights? Nobody watches those games when theyve already been watching basketball all weekend. By Sunday night Im ready for The Walking Dead and 60 minutes, not some showdown between Rutgers and Nebraska.

Imagine that an Iowa fan trying to relate football to basketball.
It is a ESPN highlight game to give exposure to the B12 conference when there aren't other games to complete with.
(BTW ISU upset of #2OSU was a Friday Night football game so there is president.)

Why does the Big 10 have games on Sunday primetime? That isn't traditional. It is for the same reason that Big 10 has content and wants to have college basketball on without other options for bball fans.
That's great, good for ISU, I'll probably tune in for a bit. I'm just saying there aren't many people, outside of ISU and WVU fans, who give a **** about this game. There will probably be way more people watching the NBA game on ESPN. Same thing goes for Sunday, that 2:30 NBA game on ABC has a ton more people watching it than a MSU vs. Indiana on CBS around the same time.

Then why are you going to watch it?

Nobody watches those games unless you're a fan of one of them. I don't watch them. I'm normally settled into flicks and navigating through a hangover.

I live in Iowa, I have a rooting interest as I want ISU to be the 2 seed, I don't watch the NBA, and this Friday night I probably won't be doing anything from 6-8. Now, if a good movie is on TV at that time, that may change things.

Exactly my point, its dumb. The Big 10 is dumb for scheduling all these Sunday games, competing against NFL playoffs, etc, just because they want to make sure all the crappy bottom teams get a TV slot.

Lots of people don't watch the NBA and love college basketball. You get a chance to watch two top 25 teams battle it out on a Friday night, talk about getting blessed by ESPN. Going to be crazy, unfortunately I think we look decent but still lose while everyone across America is tuned in to watch THE Iowa State University Cyclones

I hate when Iowa plays on Sundays, which was a lot of the time. I wish they would play on Saturdays, makes it more fun.

Yeah, it'll be great. I cannot wait.

The only time Big 10 teams should be playing on Sunday is a CBS game between 2 top teams. This BTN crap between Penn State and Rutgers on Sunday afternoons is getting old.

Why is it getting old? Nobody is watching it unless for some reason you only watch BTN 24/7

I thought the NBA had the Friday night ESPN spot locked down.

I thought the NFL had the Sunday night spot locked down from September-January but that doesn't stop the Big Ten from polluting the airwaves with their "basketball" at that time.

It should be in Chicago or Indianapolis every year. It is so stupid that it isn't. Is the Big 12 tourney staying in KC for the foreseeable future?

This is a statement I agree with. When I heard the BiG tourney was in DC I thought WTF? Maryland fans will like it but will Rutgers & PSU fans show up. Definitely makes it much harder for most of the good BB schools fan bases to make the tourney.

I don't remember how long KC has the B12 tourney for.

Because they need to move all the crap games back to Saturday and keep the game of the week on Sunday like they used to do for 30 years before this joke BTN came around and ruined tradition.
