Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

I think Iowa recruits fine, they recruit the same every year. Every year they are about 8-4 on average.

What desperate coaching hires? Define desperate.

How is the game quickly passing by the head coach? What in the last year or two makes you say that?

Why is Iowa going to be "really bad next year"? What makes you think that or that it'll be anything different than the last 15 years?
You were 8-4 with one of the easiest schedules in the country. When you have to play Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan you will automatically have 3 losses. Those teams are getting better and you are getting worse. Nebraska and Wisconsin are getting better. You will lose to us every year. That's already 6 losses before you figure in your one or

1. More difficult schedule
2. Lost your starting QB so you are playing a guy with no experience
3. Lost the best guys you have on defense.
4. You did recruit worse, but 1 5 star made the class look much better than it did.
5. You have a guy with 0 experience calling plays and you brought in a washed up coach to help and some guys from ND and a MAC school
6. KF keeps doing the same thing over and over. Yes you had one great year because you played the easiest schedule ever and got embarrassed when you had to play someone good. That only ensured he would be around to bury your program into the ground.

Good luck with all of that.

Same wishful thinking from Cyclone fans that Iowa fans have heard for the last 37 years.

I supply you with legitimate reasons, you only have b.s. to come back with. I guess what else can you say? The tide is turning and you know it.

I think next year will be Iowa State's down year. Iowa State starts four very productive and damn good senior perimeter players and has two other seniors who either start or play big minutes. That's a pretty experienced and senior laden team. I don't think many people expected them to be down this year.
That's the thing...they aren't really that down. Could still end up a 6 seed.

Leave the football talk to the football thread.

I'd really like to know how Iowa fans think they will be better next year when your guards will be terrible and well Fran is Fran

As far a jackson goes. He is not the go to for any stat category on this team we have better 3 point shooters we run plays for, we have an all world distributer, so when he does shoot it is often not a play run to him. And he is primarily a distributer, but when you have possibly the best distributer in the world, taking up those assists even a couple assists a game beside him is impressive to carve out. I think he's shown he is 2x the player Elliningson is and those stats show it. When Ellingson is in he is the shooter.

Like has been said Ellingson is good at one thing and pretty bad at the rest. Jackson is a solid basketball player and does everything carving out stats from a team stacked with his roles. Ellingson is in a situation where he can be the featured shooter, of course his percentages are going to be high. That and he just flat out plays against significantly better competition.
Ellingson is a rich man's Olgesby, meaning he can actually hit some shots. Not saying much there about the rest of his game though.

You realize what you did there? You just tried to prove a point that Iowa plays a bad schedule saying once they play Penn State, Michigan, that they wont go 8-4 anymore. Well, they actually played both those teams, a Rose Bowl team, and a BCS team and still finished 8-4.

Not one of your better arguments on that one.

This is a down year for ISU?

Could've fooled me with the preseason expectations.
I haven't wavered from 10-8 in conference, you're the one that even asked me in this thread and I said we were a game or two below non-con expectations but I still think we hit 10-8 in conference. You seemed to think that was optimistic. It now looks realistic, just like it did 2.5 months ago.

This is exactly what I was thinking when I see him. He's Oglesby 2.0, only difference is he can make a 3 when hes wide open, Oglesby couldnt make anything regardless.

Yeah got killed by Penn State, and by some miracle beat Michigan. That won't happen again for a very long time. Harbaugh is building the program and getting top level recruits. From here on out, it's an automatic loss for the hoks.

I still don't understand it, unless you add someone your guards next year will be probably the worst in all of P5
I don't think Iowa's guards are the worst in P5? They've won 14 games and are about .500 in their conference and beat a senior laden team full of guards by 15. If they were the worst in P5 I doubt they'd be able to do that. Are they good? Not really, they're average. But, they're also young and can improve, just like anybody on any team could and does.

Next year they will be I said. Jok is the only reason you guards aren't the worst in all of P5 and he's leaving
