The Big Ten as a whole generally plays in more bowl games and against better competition than the Big 12 in those bowl games, therefore inflating those stats.
Well if we are going by your theory, then Big 12 offenses are "so elite" because the Big 12 defenses are so bad.

Not really. Big Ten played in 10 games, Big 12 played in 6 games.
Big Ten played: Boston College, Washington State, Utah, Pittsburgh, Florida State, Florida, USC, Western Michigan, Clemson, Tennessee
Big 12 played: Boise State, Miami, Texas A&M, Colorado, Auburn, Georgia
Big Ten played more games and against better competition as a whole, like I said.
You realize that the tweet used an average; thus the "per game" language, so number of Ngames is not important. And better competition? There are some pretty bad teams the Big 10 played like BC and Washington State. Big 12 played a solid group. Less chance to pad stats.
The Big Ten played 4 teams that weren't in the top 30 of Sagarin to inflate their PPG total. Big 12 only played 2. Mic drop
Other than BC, who played Maryland.....every other team listed there is about on par or better than the teams listed for the Big 12.

So, the Big Ten played 6 in the top 30, including 3 in the top 10, while the Big 12 played 4, with 0 in the top 10. So, what's your point?

They had more bowl games, of course they played more top 30 teams. The average opponent for the Big 10 was 25, the average for the Big 12 was 31. Don't pretend like the opponent was the reason the Big 10 defenses were so bad
Let's get this back to basketball, who do you think will be better next year. Iowa or Iowa State?
The SEC and Big 12 Conferences are equal in strength this year in Basketball. Actually, the SEC might be a little better since one of their better teams didn't even participate.
