Iowa Football Recruiting

Furthermore, the series was not played from 1935 until 1976. ISU had 10 winning seasons during that time frame and never even won a bowl game until this century.

Iowa had 12 winning seasons during the same time frame and won 2 Rose Bowls.

So to act like the Iowa program was light years behind ISU's is wrong.

There was also a 12 year break from 1921 until 1932. When the series stopped, Iowa had won the last 5. Iowa went 53-37-4 during the 12 seasons the series was not played.

ISU's record during that same time was 38-56-7.

Thanks for the history lesson but ISU fans should feel fortunate the all time gap is not larger in favor of Iowa.

I hope that you understand that there weren't as many bowl games prior to the 90's/00's. A lot of those winning seasons didn't even result in a bowl, so ISU had no chance to win one. ISU went 6-5 in 1989 under Walden and didn't play in a bowl. 1976 they went 8-3 and finished #19 in the AP and didn't get invited to a bowl. Not saying they have a great or even good history, but bowl games/wins can be a misleading stat.

Getting into a debate with that moron will lead you nowhere. I have never and will never post on a Hawkeye board yet these guys wake up in the morning and immediately type Cyclone Fanatic into their search bar hoping to be able to puff their chests out. Sad really.

That is true but I wonder how many programs in the country did not win a bowl game until 2000 or later.

The other stats I listed show an advantage to Iowa in an era that the poster I was responding thought ISU could have made up ground in the series.

First post of the day for me was after 1 PM, not exactly immediately after I wake up in the AM.

I agree with that. Funny how they can bag on Nebraska fans for living in the past, but when the debate suits their cause, they do the same thing. I care about the future. Why someone is on an opponent's board on a daily basis arguing is beyond me.

Ohhhhhh.... So now you ARE factoring in games not played. Because I'm pretty sure just a couple of posts ago you were accusing me of doing the same and deriding me for it.

Broken record, Clone fans said the same thing with Chizik and Rhodes.

Let me guess, sleeping giant?

History is history. My larger point, which either totally escapes you or scares the **** out of you - is that it doesn't have to impact the future. You can claim - for now - that nothing will change. And you very well could be right. But the FACT is you have less of a clue than any of us and are at least as much - if not moreso - projecting your hopes into the future than ISU fans are.

I've been around for awhile and have seen coaches come and go. My personal OPINION is that Cambell is different. Whether he actually is and then sticks around is an entirely different question.

But I'll maintain, as I've already said, that the prospect of just that scares the **** out of you.

No, I am saying it's idiotic for you to do it because Iowa was the better program during both stretches where the series was not played.

Hahahahaha!!!!! We can - and I do on occasion - cherry pick my time frames. And the time I cherry picked was the midst of a 19 YEAR CONSECUTIVE NON-WINNING SEASON STREAK - still a D1 record by your beloved Iowa Hawkeyes. I guess I should have gone back and included the times that encompassed the Great Depression and two world wars...

But here's the real rub. You are what I believe a myopic kid - with a Hawkeye focus. I'm a myopic old man - with a Cyclone focus. The difference is I'm tempered a bit by my experiences. And I've seen the pendulum swing many times. It is my OPINION that Campbell is the real deal. Whether he stays long term or not remains to be seen.

Further - again my OPINION - is that you're scared shitless of that possibility. You live so vicariously through your team and at this point in your life I think it would make you feel personally inferior if your team continues to progress towards inferior. I have no such illusions.

So I'll leave you with a couple of modified hashtags...

Sounds the sirens *****. A MF storm is brewing in Ames.
