Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

I think Northwestern is decent this year. Not great, but decent. Definitely could sneak in tourney. But I don't think a team is very good if they go on the road and get blasted by a fringe tourney team by 35. Iowa is a horrendous team away from Carver.

okay? I don't remember calling them a good team in or out of Carver. I think they're ok, but they're very reliant on the 3 and when those aren't falling, they have no plan B. And they suck at defense.

Ah, the semantics copout.

TCU and NW are on par this year with each other, but ISU didn't lose by 35, they lost by 7.

lol, that's cute. TCU has never won two games in the tournament.

but hey, I suppose if only 16 teams made the tournament, that counts as being in the sweet 16!

yes, TCU's history is better than Northwestern's. But it isn't that much better, especially if you only go back to when the field expanded to 64 teams.

This thread is now on a different kind of level now that we're debating Northwestern and TCU basketball. Why don't we get Nebraska in to the mix while we're at it?

The day ISU loses to anyone by 35 is the day I start wanting a new coach.

Last time ISU lost by more than 15, 2/10/14 at WVU in a 102-77 stomping. They played lights out Kane/Ejim year.

Last time ISU lost by 35, 12/5/07 at Drake, ouch.

It's only year 7 for Fran though, maybe he'll get it turned around.

You must not know follow basketball too closely.

I've looked at TCU's schedule so far, have you? They played nobody in the non-con as usual and have lost to every good team they've played except one (and that's entirely dependent on whether or not ISU is good).

They'll have ample opportunity to prove themselves coming up. I'll gladly admit I was wrong if they make the tournament, but something tells me that when they inevitably miss the tournament like they usually do you guys will have moved on to something else

They have a good RPI, Ken Pom, and Sagarin rating and are getting votes for the top 25. Big 12 will get at least 6 teams in the tournament. Unless the completely collapse the rest of the season they should get in the tournament.

has the selection committee decided already? ISU must be really good if TCU can get in already with ISU their best win.
Their RPI right now is 25. If the tourney was today, they are in. What teams have been left out that have an rpi in top 25? I'd guess maybe 1 or 2 in history.

Also willing to bet their sagarin raiting is top 30 without looking. I know it's hard for Iowa fans to understand how this all works since they don't follow basketball.

Can anyone answer me why Iowa starts 4 freshman when 2 of them suck? Has he literally just not recruited anyone the last 3 years?
Not Fran's fault that all potential guard recruits are terrified of having to compete for minutes with his White Jordan offspring.

Nebraska and their amazing, amazing big guys that are leading them to another historic Nebrasketball season.

the tournament isn't today and they've got a whole lot of season left. Again, I'll admit I was wrong if they make it in but I'm confident this will all be forgotten when they miss it again. Don't worry, I won't bump these quotes when they're in the NIT.

Iowa fans would know the type of collapse it takes from January to March to drop that far.

I expected a team that has to start 4 freshman would also be starting out with a new coach. Not a guy in Year 8.
I wonder how many freshman Prohm starts next year? Hopefully at least 3 for your sake because your underclassmen suck. With all his recruiting misses I don't imagine you guys have much hope though :)

I don't really see where they are going to get the bad losses to knock them down. Already beat OU at home and Texas on road. I'm sure they beat Texas at home. That leaves OU on road and that likely won't be a killing loss come March. Also, I think they have a good chance of beating Baylor at home or WVU. Already almost beat WVU on road and KU at home. But don't worry, I won't bump this thread when they are in the NCAA tourney in march .
