.

I'm not disagreeing with you about game-to-game. Our biggest problem this year is the players not showing up for 40 minutes.

You obviously see "take care of business" as some sort of a condescending statement, and in a way, it is. We've got to earn everything, but I still have high hopes for this team and we need to "take care" of teams we have the potential to beat. I'd argue that us at 100% for the whole game puts this away early. Teams that have high expectations need to have a vision of getting themselves somewhere. I'd hope this team sees themselves as capable (but not just going to slide into) of finishing higher than a bunch of these other teams, especially those we've finished higher than over the past few years.

I'm not so sure if it's '100%' the whole game as it's more about your biggest matchup problems getting time on the floor, i.e. Young and Weller-Babb. Everything was more fluid when that happened.

Watching the game I still think Tech was more athletic and may turn into a good win for ISU.

I'm still convinced the talent is there. The big question is can they play like they did in the last 8 min of this game for a full 40 min? If they can, they can hang with anyone in the Big 12. If they can't, NIT could even be out of the picture.

I hope Prohm uses this to keep them focused. We start out the way we did tonight down in Waco, we ain't coming back.

So...we're 27th in KenPom, but 110 in RPI? I get differences in rankings (predictive vs. summative), but come on.

Also, WV is 54 in RPI, and Vanderbilt is 57. TCU checks in at 27. What a vaunted ranking system.

We're somewhere between 27 and 110 right now. Neither is more laughable than the other. RPI will be a pretty good measure by end of season as it typically is with a few outliers. If we go 9-9 or better in B12 our RPI will probably be strong enough to put us in lock range.

Anybody hear CSP post game radio comments about shaking up the minutes for Young, Babb and Jackson?

Despite the belief of many on here, Tech is actually a decent team. We looked like dog **** in the first half, but it looked like they finally figured something out when they were making their run; something I hadn't seen all year (you could argue the Gonzaga run, but that was more Burton getting hot than anything).

You call it pessimistic when in reality it is more realistic than you would like to admit. I said 8 maybe 9 wins if we are lucky. And I will stick to that for right now.
7 wins is the absolute floor, that is pessimism. I'd take 9 or 10 as realistic.

I'm baffled that people aren't able to get this.

But I remember someone saying ISU was elite last year because it was a close loss at Oklahoma...that's not how 'elite' works.

I still think Burton will start. I think Bowie is the odd man out, but if Burton keeps taking dumb **** shots, he will lose his spot soon

Burton took the same shots he made at a high percentage in some of the earlier games. But, he's hesitating instead of shooting in rhythm. Just hoping for him to be more consistent since he's shown he can dominate when he's clicking.

I got to change my attitude of what a good win is compared to the last 5-6 years.
I get an uneasy feeling ANY win this year best be savored because they will be hard to come by.

Next up, Motley is going to bend us over. So that will be nice...

Some just don't seem to get it. It's not about not giving effort. This is a very talented team with a big, important, critical weakness (right now). Until someone steps up to be an inside presence on both ends, playing hard isn't often going to be enough. They have to play inspired.

I get more worried when ISU has a 8-12 point halftime lead, we tend to gag those games away.

Given ISU's history over the last several years, a double digit deficit in the 2nd half usually bodes well

Still don't feel good about getting out rebounded 42-27. 15 Oreb/27 Dreb to our 7/20. The really positive stat was turnovers where we had 6 to their 15.

TBH, I have been saying bad shots for him most of the season. I don't like one dribble fade away jumpers above the free throw line.

I think it's time to start Young over Burton.
Start Young with Holden as his backup. Burton and Bowie split time at the 4. Burton for some reason refuses to be a post presence. Bowie puts in the effort but lacks the junk in the trunk to be truly effective in the post.

If need be go four guards and one post like they did tonight but that post has to be Young and one of the guards has to be Babb

Tech will make the tourney this year.
I am very concerned with the lack of movement on offense. With a four guard lineup we should be running around, coming off screens, misdirection for threes or layups and attacking the glass with toughness. None of that is happening right now.
