I'm fine with the ragging on Tech, because while they were in the tourney, they were 7th in a league of 10 last year. This is a deep league, and at this point it looks like as many as 8 teams could play their way into the tourney this year. We've gotta take care of business against Tech, TCU, K-State, and OU (could put Texas here, but I think they're going to turn it on here soon). Then, we have a shot to go dancing. I'm still convinced that 9-9 won't do it for us with the lack of a good win in the non-con.

If we go 9-9 we need at least 1 win in KC. Otherwise Selection Sunday will be a nail biter.

I'd agree with this. However, if somehow we sweep the worst 2 teams in the league and also go like 4-2 against the top 3 (KU, BU, WV), we'd probably be in but that would be a weird resume. Stranger things have happened.

Why do you think ISU is just good enough to 'take care of business' against an NCAA tourney team no matter their place in the conference or their name?

ISU has lost twice to Tech the last two seasons.

Tech is more athletic and a tougher matchup than ISU.

This ISU team will literally need to be game to game in their approach.

No way does my vote of 6-7 conference wins changes. I don't trust Prohm to keep Burton/Thomas on the bench as much as they should (and Burton will become even MORE of a liability when he doesn't think he's the guy). I don't trust Prohm to play Young as much as he should (wanting to give too much love to the SR transfers), and we're not going to play a "lower division" opponent like Texas Tech every time. This team needed the crowd and a not so great opponent to come back and win, unfortunately.

I'm not disagreeing with you about game-to-game. Our biggest problem this year is the players not showing up for 40 minutes.

You obviously see "take care of business" as some sort of a condescending statement, and in a way, it is. We've got to earn everything, but I still have high hopes for this team and we need to "take care" of teams we have the potential to beat. I'd argue that us at 100% for the whole game puts this away early. Teams that have high expectations need to have a vision of getting themselves somewhere. I'd hope this team sees themselves as capable (but not just going to slide into) of finishing higher than a bunch of these other teams, especially those we've finished higher than over the past few years.

Texas Tech went to the NCAA tourney last year, and has beaten ISU several times in the last few years, including vs. Hoiberg. It's not Prohm's fault that Tech is more athletic than ISU.

Thomas playing is fine. Things need to open up for him and he's money from the FT line.

Burton played like he got REALLY high before the game and imo Young needs to be in there more, and probably protected on defense at this point to avoid foul trouble.

A win AT Texas Tech would be a decent win, but at home you had better beat TT or you will have a long road ahead of you to get to .500 in the conference.

I'm still convinced the talent is there. The big question is can they play like they did in the last 8 min of this game for a full 40 min? If they can, they can hang with anyone in the Big 12. If they can't, NIT could even be out of the picture.
