Man punches kangaroo to save dog

Looks like he's well versed and conditioned in his approach to battle.

Dog looked like it was enjoying itself...like two brothers being told to stop all the rough-housin'.

I'm fascinated at how in other parts of the country, compared to the midwest, our deer is other peoples' kangaroo, alligator, various lizards, etc.

Yeah the kangaroo and the dog werent fighting. I would have to assume if the Kangaroo wished that dog harm, it would have had no problem beating the dog into a pulp.

I love the look on the Kangaroo's face. He was like "dude, wth" Funny stuff. Some of those kangaroos can get swoll as hell.

That look on the kangaroos face was priceless!

I've got a buddy that works in the ag industry and spends a few months a year working in back-country Australia. He showed me a picture of him hitting a kangaroo with his truck just like we would hit a deer in the highway in IA. It's kinda goofy thinking about them hopping around like we would see deer in these parts.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they were just standing there like that. The slow-motion with play by play show the kangaroo trying to gut the dog with its claws as the guy approached.

I spent a lot of time in remote parts of Canada for work. I grew up with deer in iowa. It was strange to see moose and bear just like we would see deer crossing a highway. What was scary up there was that not many hit a moose or bear on the highway and live to tell about it. Moose have those skinny little legs so if you hit them, their entire torso would fall right on the windshield.

Also Moose are known for being very aggressive and dangerous when encountered, especially during their 'rut'. From what I understand it's better to come across a black bear than moose, outliers being when there's cubs involved.

Can you imagine getting charged by a doe deer if you came across her fawns in the forest?

I would like to see what happened leading up to that video starting. Just because the dog is standing calmly doesn't mean it wasn't in trouble.

Watch a video of a lion attacking something and the prey looks like they are just chilling in the lion's mouth when I would be expecting them to be going crazy trying to escape before suffocating.

Article mentioned they were chasing wild pigs and that the boars are dangerous. Im sure it s a danger to both the Roo and the dog to be goofing around while the boars were pissed off and roaming around.

No the dog was in trouble, this was talked about a lot on the reddit thread about it. I guess kangaroos are known for choking out other animals. A lot of videos were posted of kangaroos choking out other kangaroos.

My guess would be the dog decided to chase the kangaroo, and the kangaroo grabbed ahold of him to stop it. From there, I think the kangaroo is strong enough that the dog gave up struggling.

Kangaroo be like "I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for internet fame, I can tell you I don't have internet recognition. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long life in the outback. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let me play with your dog, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."

You are correct. The Canadians had lots of stories of parked cars getting totaled by male moose in rut. Something about the cars and catching a moose in the right mood, and they will ram your car until they think it's "dead." (With their horns, clean up your mind). The first time I had one come near my car, it was astounding how big those animals are. Imagine a steer on stilts, that's the best way I can describe it.
