A message to our fans in attendance yesterday..

I'm not condoning the "vocabulary" some people are using but holy smokes do we have some thin skinned fans.

Do you also not allow your kids to see all the people pounding beers outside? As a parent that's a teaching moment.

Do you prevent them from hearing some of the trash music blared in the parking lots that has colorful language? As a parent that's a teaching moment.

If you have toddlers that's one thing but if you have kids in school they're hearing it already from their classmates. If you're a parent taking a small child into that environment, you KNOW what happens and you did it anyways. That's on you just as much as the idiot making an ass of themselves.

The downside could end up hurting attendance.

At what point do we say the stadium security needs to be improved? I've never been back to Dodger Stadium after a rough night.

How soon until that happens at JTS? Are we close?

The game I attended this year was an 11 am kick. Pretty good presence of law enforcement in the lot I was in. Felt like there was enough concentration of Midwest Nice to offset the knucklehead contingent.

They may be reacting after years of inepitude. Those fans may be fed up.

FED UP.....fed up U say...Let me just say that some of our fans are Way way Beyond Fed UP ...............They are Downrite P****D Off......

And NO one should be surprised with their reaction to years and years of Ineptitude and embarrassing play....

Combine that with an Athletic Officials and I include Prez Leath, that does nothing to make a Total Commitment to Winning Football ....Like*

*see university of Iowa 1977

That is what its going to take to have a Winning Football Tradition, Unless the fanbase wants another 20 or 30 years of this krap....................er football if you can call it that

It all comes down to human decency. I have no right to yell cruel things at our coaches or players...I will groan occasionally! But I am a Cyclone. Cyclones are family...fans, coaches, and most importantly, players. I cannot imagine the time and effort our athletes and coaches pour into their craft. I have always been proud that we do not boo our players, and very few boo a coach (which I totally abhor). CyclONEnation!

Messing at all with tailgaiting will destroy attendance at games.

Speaking of Tailgating ....and btw I Love Tailgating...A few yrs back well, actually, a lot of years back, while my wife and I and friends were tailgating we saw a Fire in one of the tailgating sections, and it turned out to be a bunch of drunken students who set fire to a big old nasty couch.....

Now that my friends is tailgating run amok.......

I'm sure all of you, just like me, were disappointed in the result of yesterday. That is no excuse to go on a game long rampage in the stands. Most of our fans at JTS are good people and root for our team even when things aren't going our way. Thank you, you are the fans that make JTS an awesome atmosphere even for a 1 win team. The rest of our fans at the game, you know who you are. Screaming at the top of your Lungs "Campbell you suck", "piss poor coaching!", "Chr*st, tackle him you moron!" the entire game while pounding on the bleachers is not what fans in section 9 want to see and hear while watching our team win or lose. This is my 3rd new section in 5 years of having season tickets and there is someone like this in every section I have been in.

I know I won't make an immediate difference in this post but if you are one of those people, just know you aren't helping the people who want to be at the game. I love going to the games and want to be able to financially support the AD but when people like I describe above are screaming all game, it makes fans think about their options and one of them includes staying home, watching it on TV, and saving a lot of money. That means less tickets sold, less money to the AD, less support for the team. There is another team in this state that condones awful fan behavior so if you are going to act like a jerk all game go there, stay away from ISU. We love our family friendly atmosphere and if you shut up or leave, the rest of us will be able to enjoy the game much more and without your nonsense.

I actually have the same situation in Section G. This father and son (I would guess son to be approx. 30ish, and I believe they are both teachers somewhere) are always like this. I have bit my lip for 3 long years, but yesterday was the tipping point. The older gentlemen who sits in front of me turned around to me and said they were really annoying him. So I slid over a couple seats, leaned between them and told them to shut up they were annoying everyone behind them. The dad decided to go tell the security guard that I somehow assaulted them by leaning over between them. The funny thing is the head of security and two State Tropper guys verified my side of the story with numerous people who sit around us and security has actually had complaints about these guys before and have told them to stop beating on the scoreboards that are attached to the upper deck.

The crappy thing is it all caused me to miss the safety.

just another Saturday in
Morgantown.

I for one know that I get too angry during games and say things I shouldn't say. It doesn't take long after he games for me to feel bad about the things I say knowing there are young children around who shouldn't hear some things.

As far as the team goes. It's clear as day that they are being coached up very well. We are competing in games with less talent and depth. Very encouraging for our future once we cycle through few recruiting classes.

Maybe some fans think that paying good, hard earned money to watch ISU football means that we should be 7-1 instead of 1-7 maybe just "ONCE IN THEIR LIFETIME." (NO JIHMLAD; and yes I am very old).
The only person I have a begrievement,as of right now, is Jamie Pollard.

Sounds like a lot of you are talking about a very small vocal minority who cross the line which is a problem anywhere, not just sports. Those people are out there everywhere, look at message board melt downs or the cave, it's a few people overreacting to stuff. Same with politics or people making mountains out of mole hills and making this an overly pc country.

You can't fix stupid.

Teach your kids not to be like them as they won't change. And also give a little pull and take. Sports are entertainment and we all attend to get some sort of reaction/emotion out of them. Do I occasional drop a swear or yell when frustrated when I really don't mean it, of course, but that's why we go to games, to feel emotion. It's basic human nature. Next you'll tell me going nuts over a #2 OSU win and rush the field in chaos is crazy as you should always keep your emotions in check.

Did we play Iowa this weekend? Not sure why there are so many Hawkeye mentions in this thread. Quit acting like little brother and focus on the topic of fan interactions.

That being said: fans will be fans. Have a talk with your kids beforehand that fans around them may curse or use profanity. If Iowa State takes a "holier than thou" stance on how fans behave in Jack Trice, we won't have much of a fanbase to put in the seats.
