On to Football Season

If you consider Notre Dame and Oklahoma State nobody good that's on you I guess. 247 lists Newell with an Iowa offer but Iowa is not that good and I doubt they would try to get someone out of Tom Manning's backyard anyways so I'll give you that one.

Yeah, that one WR with ND and OSU offers is a nice get. That's why I said most. Not sure about Newell, conflicting reports on an Iowa offer but we already have two OL commits better than he is so makes sense he'd stay home in Ames. You feel good about the other 6?

Feel good about everything. The nice part is even if those other two OL are better we have this guy to make up for that. Oline University, located in Ames, IA. Like I said, A Storm is Brewing

What's with all the Hawks today? HN shut down with some terminal virus? Although at least they just seem to be in here.

Did this Ott guy just play the first six games or something? Is he the same guy that played hurt in the Iowa City game two seasons ago? And if so maybe he should have not played hurt this year especially with the teams they were playing early in the season?

Hok logic: "HN is a ghost town there's not much conversation over there"

BECAUSE YOU ARE ALL HERE! FMLWAS

Good to hear. I guess that one kid almost took a visit to Michigan St., so there's that. ISU's athletic marketing light years better than most, I'll give you that.

They are very good. Plus this coaching staff makes their job look pretty easy.

I can see why Sagarin is prefered over Anderson/Billingsly/Matrix. I mean your argument that we were Iowa's 5th strongest opponent would become we were Iowa's 11th or 12th toughest opponent (Billingsley had Maryland behind ISU, but Anderson and Matrix both had Maryland higher than ISU).

So it is good to use Sagarin.

Who is we?

Doesn't bother you that nobody good wanted most all of them?

It doesn't even matter. At this time of year, all that matters is that your coach wants them. A staff isn't going to take a commitment from a player that they think is a scrub...not this time of year. You don't take commits from Plan B or C kids in April. Iowa got commits from Cole Banwart and Austin Schulte last June. They didn't require other P5 offers to validate taking those kids. In fact, neither one of those two even ended up with a G5 offer. When it comes down to it, either your staff is good at evaluating and developing talent or they are not. Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Especially not idiots who feel the need to rain on the parade of fans who are excited about a recruiting class.

Are we talking basketball or football recruiting?

Huh? Iowa finished #9 in the nation. Will probably start top-15ish this season.

Everyone knows last year was a fluke and when iowa actually played a good team, they were exposed as the ******* they usually are.

Don't try to reason with gonzo. He's gone full squawk ****** since the football season.

I wouldn't say fluke. There's a reason so many Big 10 teams were on last year's "Top 15 easiest schedules" list. This year the top five teams on the list ESPN released were Big 10 teams, too.

To be fair the last few years of a certain basketball program made it impossible not to make fun of their recruiting

Totally get that, and mostly deserved. Just saying those recruits' offer lists are pretty comparable to the ones you're getting all hot and bothered about now.

ISU has a top 30 class now in football, Iowa basketball wasn't in the top 70 in terms of recruiting rankings in 2014 and 2015. Plus I'm not getting hot and bothered about anything, I'm just happy with the direction of the program under the new staff so far

And Iowa has a top 15 class right now. Doesn't mean they're going to finish there. Just means the big dogs haven't signed as many guys yet.
