Devin Williams - WVU to the NBA

Not good for the college game. It might make us feel warm and cozy when it happens to other guy. But this is a reflection of what's wrong with college basketball today, and why people don't watch. Williams was a second team all league selection. He should have played at least next year and probably four.

Best team I ever saw was '76 Indiana's undefeated outfit. Mostly juniors and seniors - Quinn Buckner, Bobby Wilkerson, Scott May, Tom Abernathy, Kent Benson. Coach Knight's first national champions. We'll never see 'teams' like that again unless the NBA stops this nonsense. Really sad for college hoops.

I think he'll make an NBA roster. He has a motor that doesn't quit, an NBA build and pretty decent mid-range jumper. I'd be surprised if he doesn't make it somewhere. Not a starter, IMO, but I think he'll be a good bench/role player
 
He's a stud, huge loss for them if true. They were returning everyone significant for next season and had to be the overwhelming favorite to dethrone KU next season if he was returning.

Oklahoma starting 5: 3 seniors, a junior, and a sop
Villanova starting 5: 2 seniors, 2 juniors, and a freshmen
Syracuse starting 5: 3 seniors, a junior, and a freshmen
UNC starting 5: 2 seniors, 2 juniors, and a soph

Looks like all the Final 4 teams are made up of mostly juniors and seniors to me.

First He is a junior. Second you can't make kids stay until their seniors if they don't want to. Third, there were some very good seniors in college basketball this year. You sound like an old man complaining about the good old days.

Prohm was on AM 1600 here in CR yesterday and brought up a good point. From a coaches perspective, it can really screw with recruiting as you do not know if a player is leaving until late in the recruiting season. A highly ranked recruit may be interested if he thinks there are lots of minutes available. Those minutes may disappear if the person he is replacing does not make the draft and decides to come back.

I think that's true to an extent, but I think it applies more to the big time programs that recruit and land five star kids, and even then it's more risk for the players and not the coaches in those programs. Say Diallo doesn't get the feedback he was hoping for and decides to come back, but while he was going through the process Self landed another McD's All American PF. So now you have Diallo and another kid as good or potentially better than him competing for minutes next season. Someone is going to get screwed on that deal, and it isn't Bill Self.
 
So WVU loses Paige and Williams. Man where are their points going to come from? Although Esa Ahmad will be pretty good. They also lose Holton. Looks like KU is going to run away with the leaugue crown again

Well the kid knows the risk in that case. Both do so I wouldn't say anyone is getting screwed
The rule is harder on coaches bc someone might sign somewhere else if a team for sure doesn't have a spot

Philip and Carter can fill it up. I swear Paige was a JR. but you're correct, he's done at WVU. This day just got better!

These final 4 teams are filled with juniors and seniors. Imagine if you will if these guys (see link) had stayed. And that's just one example of one year at one school. Maybe we should talk Kentucky? Do you seriously think the field looks as it does now if Cal's recruits had four years? Would Alford be on the hot seat today?

I don't think you're going to get much support for Alford's coaching from any fan related to any program in Iowa.
