I didn't want to sully one of the Morris shoulder threads with this, but how he got injured is one of my pet peeves. When an offensive players ball fakes then jumps into a defensive player who is already in the air and can't do a damn thing about it, why is that a foul on the defensive guy? My other pet peeve is flopping. Both seem like weak plays. Maybe I'm just used to playground ball where that crap doesn't fly.

*end rant*

I agree on both counts. The thing is, on the playground neither gets yuo to the free throw line, you just get to take it back out top. No advantage gained, so you might as well play to score legitimately.

I would love to see officials call charges when there is a ball fake and the defensive player goes straight up and then gets jumped into. By the letter of the rule, that should be the call.

I'm OK with the pumpfake and lean on a jumper. The offensive player at least created an advantage due to superior play. As long as it's not too egregious of course.

My biggest pet peeve is when there is a 1-on-1 fast break and the defender fakes but doesn't make contact with the offensive player and the referee blows his whistle no matter what. The defender never gets the benefit of the doubt and is always called for a foul.

Ball handler picking up his dribble for no reason, and offensive rebounds.

except for the defensive player is not set so it is the exact opposite of the letter of the rule.

You don't have to be set if you jump straight up. The problem is while most post defenders think they're straight up, they're usually leaning or floating toward the offensive player.

If the defender would have landed and not come in contact with the shooter then I have a problem with it. If he was going to land on top of the shooter and commit a foul anyways and the shooter went up for the shot to ensure he got 2 shots from the foul then I don't have a problem with it.

I have a pet peeve about burton doing the same move in the lane every single time he gets the ball there yet the defense falls for it every time.

Isn't that a good thing, at least until the defense figures it out?

Surprised he doesn't get called for more carries on his crossover. I love his behind the back move. Big guys might know it's coming, but he's too quick for it to matter. I wish he would pull the trigger more one threes.

It's pretty rare that the defensive player actually goes straight up on the pump fake.

I'll always have a pet peeve with a guy posting up and being allowed to back a defender under the basket despite the defender having established good position.

Although, it's not a pet peeve if we do it. When we do it, it's awesome.

You could. They don't. I've seen it where both jump and the offensive player is called for extending his arm.

etending the arm is not a charge. a charge by definition is;
[h=3]What is a charge?[/h]An offensive foul that occurs when a player makes significant contact with a defender that has established position.

jumping in the air is not an established position. so no you cant.

Pushing off a defender in the air with your arm fully extended is not a foul? Maybe we should teach our guys go for dunks with a fully extended fist on the other arm, since the defender is in the air and not established.

Obviously its a foul. I said it is not a charge. Am I the only person that doesnt think every offensive foul is called a charge? wtf
