Basketball Pet Peeves

Several mentions of replay, I agree the length of delay is annoying. I've hated the lag everywhere it's used (NFL has gotten better at reducing the time-lapse compared to early days of review), but it may bother me the most in basketball. Since it's used late in games, it further drags the action. I like having it available to make an accurate call, but if there isn’t obvious evidence with one or two looks, you can’t overturn it.
There should be someone separate from the officials that determines the outcome right away instead of having the refs walk over, put on the headphones, watch the play 20 times, and then don't change anything.

Two things - carrying the ball, this was discussed in an earlier post. NBA players (Jordan was the poster child) do it all the time, but it's all over the place now in the NCAA. The other thing is hand-checking.....this was supposed to be a "point of emphasis" beginning a couple years ago, but, meh. The Huggy Bears are the worst offenders.

My biggest pet peeves watching high school and college basketball are:
1. Fouling on a fast break, but still allowing the offensive player to make the basket. If you're going to foul make sure he doesn't even get a shot off.
2. Compounding a turnover. Turn the ball over and race over to the player that took it and immediately foul them to try to get the ball back.

a defender letting an and one happen. You know they are going to call the foul don't let them get the shot off, might as well make your foul count.
