Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

Uhl and Wagner are not better than Burton and whoever else. Burton is better than both and Wagner is averaging 2.8 ppg in B1G play. Iowa has played 8 games against ranked opponents this season, Wagner has a total of 3 points in those 8 games.

Uhl is better than Burton, and Ellingson + baer + Wagner > Carter, Cooke, ???.

Uhl and Burton are almost identical from a production standpoint, but ISU gets almost nothing from Cooke or Ashton while Iowa gets solid production and length from Baer and Wagner. If you disagree, I guess it's just Iowa's starters that are so much better that have them listed as a 1 seed and ISU as what, a 4/5 seed?

How does ISU get nothing from Cooke but Iowa gets something from Wagner? Cooke averages more points than Wagner but neither really do anything against good teams.

Also it doesn't take much besides common sense to see that Burton is a better basketball player than Uhl.

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

You must not watch many Iowa games. Everytime I watch them, Wagner brings energy and rebounds like crazy. Im not sure why you are blinded by ISU goggles. I can even admit that Iowa right now is having a better season than ISU. Sad but true. Would love to have a guy like Baer and Wagner come off the bench for us.

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

Uhl is playing out of his ***. Is his 3P% sustainable? Like, is Dom Uhl really a 47% 3-point shooter? If he is, he's a decent bench player. He makes some awful plays, takes terrible shots, but somehow is still contributing good minutes. It's odd.

Baer is starting to come back down to earth after a good start to the Big 10 season. He's not very good and looked out of place against Maryland. Fran will have to shorten the bench come tourney time, but he probably won't.

CyTwins isn't always right. Some would say he's rarely right. But in the case of the "Sweet 16" argument, he's dead on. Look at the Top 25. Is there a single team that ISU wouldn't have a chance against? No team would be favored by more than 6-7 against ISU. A team with ISU's resume certainly can't be looked at as an improbable Sweet 16 team.

Guess it's the starters then that differentiates a 1 seed from a 4/5 seed.

He didn't even play against Iowa State. Against ranked teams he's averaging .3 ppg and .7 rebounds. He's no better or worse than Cooke IMO

This is kind of my point. When it comes to playing top teams, Iowa's bench is relatively weak. I'd definitely take Wagner though.

ISU is not playing good basketball right now and are #12 in the RPI. Iowa is playing very well and are #6. ISU beat them head to head. I still think ISU has a better NCAA tournament because they have a much higher ceiling. They just need to put it together

He shot 18% last season. I'm guessing he will come back down to earth shooting wise sooner than later. Uhl is still a solid player but both teams really only have 6 guys they can play without a drop off. Iowa plays 9 guys but no chance Ellingson plays if he's at most top 25 schools. The guy looks lost out there

In all fairness, the game was played at Hilton where ISU has one of the biggest home court advantages in the country and needed to come from behind by 20 points. The game was also played 2 months ago...
Iowa has two fewer losses and all came to tourney teams. ISU lost to a bad UNI team. Not sure why you feel ISU has a higher ceiling aside from bias. Iowa is only one of two teams to be in the top 15 in both offense/defense efficiency. One of the most well rounded teams in the nation without a doubt. March will tell us more, but the season has told us a lot so far and it favors Iowa.

Iowa has had a better season so far no doubt, I don't think anyone is saying otherwise. Hawk fans want to come on here and pretend like ISU is crumbling when reality is ISU isn't playing well at all and would still be a 4 seed right now if the season ended today.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize ISU is more talented than Iowa. That's why I think they have a higher ceiling. I don't think that's even being biased.

I along with most people would have agreed ISU was more talented to start the season but I don't think that way anymore. Generally speaking, Uthoff is considered better than Niang and it will be reflected when All-American's are announced along with POTY voting. Generally speaking, Iowa is considered the better team, KenPom projects team as you said, and doesn't rate them as to what they are now. ... So yes, while Iowa has had a better thus far, they're projected to be better as well and that would coincide with potential.

Uthoff is not considered better than Niang. One was a finalist for the Karl Malone Award, the other was not
