Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

I would say yes. A glorious time right now to be a Hawk fan. I'm loving every minute of it and cherishing it. I know these seasons don't come around very often. Have to enjoy it because it can change quick.

Yep, about every 3-4 years when the schedule rotates it seems like.

So were you one of the 5,000 fans dressed up as an empty chair in Carver last night?

I wish, but live out of state. I make it back for at least one fb game a year and if I can fit it in a BBall game too. Been probably at least 10 years since I missed a FB game on TV and back to the Lickliter days before I missed a BBall game on TV. Those Lickliter teams were just awful to watch.

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

I would agree that the B12 is probably the toughest conf with only 1 bad team (TCU) and the top 6 are teams that should win all their opening tourny games, I can see (depending on matchups) ISU, KU, WVU, Tx, and OU making the 2nd weekend (not sold on baylor). but OU is the only true final 4 favorite of the group.

The big east's top 8 all have alot of talent and could give the B12's top 8 a tough challenge if they played one this yr (B12 would still win).

the ACC though not looking like it yet I think is the other option as the best conf this yr. We will have to check the results after the 1st weekend on the tourny to prove or disapprove that thought. Come march the ACC seems to always do well, you just expect to see 2 or 3 teams in the elite 8.

I think the B10 has more elite 8 contenders (MSU, MD, iowa) than the B12 (OU, KU) but that does not make the conf better. If ISU had a bench they could rely on they would be in that elite 8 contender line easily but hey are just going to get wore out come march, especially if they run into a guard heavy team that can with ISU and wear them out.

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

Iowa mbb is very good but resemble their FB season.. Except Iowa beat good teams who were without starters. -- Wichita st, Mich St, etc

they will milk those 4 wins over injured Mich St and Purdue.. Now they will feast on a bunch of crud teams down the stretch.

has there been a more highly ranked MBB team with a mediocre center and point guard? Gesell is like 1-20 fgs last three games

MSU only played one game against us without Valentine. The second game Valentine was fully healthy. I don't think anybody from Purdue was out either game. Try again. I seem to remember ISU playing against a WVU without one of their better players and losing.

lol.

We don't have one of our better players either so that evens out I'd say.

I don't think so, he looked off his first couple games back.

Purdue was without a rotation player, probably about the equivalent to the WVU guy that was out although the WVU guy is probably a little better because he can rebound.

You've been without him for months now....the team has adjusted to him not being there. WVU was without their leading rebounder for a week (2nd game).

Devin Williams didn't play? I swear I saw him destroy us

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

So in one post you validate KenPom, and in the next post, you contradict what KenPom has told us all season: The Big 12 is the best conference in the country.

And it's not just KenPom. It's every metric you can find; human polls, computer polls, eye test, media perception, etc.

ACC is the best conference big 12 second. Look at top ten teams on Ken Pom compared to Big 12's ten teams.

ACC will probably get most teams in the tournament as well

Re: Iowa MBB now a projected #1 seed

Regardless, he isn't coming back till next year. The ISU team better adjust or they won't make it very far.

The point isn't about the other players adjusting. They could 100% adjust and the production ceiling could still be lower with Naz out.

Huge loss for you guys. Always hate to see a team get season ending injuries like this. Guess on the bright side is that you get him back for next year though I'm sure most would rather have him this year.
